ok, got everything set up with voip.ms trunk
i can make an external call out, but no voice can be heard
Also, when dialing in, i get a busy signal

what goes in the sip protocol:network:local network, the ip address of the local server?

any ideas on why no voice and a busy signal?

here is my summary, did I miss something?

I am using the "default/internal" context on the sip trunk

on my incoming calls, I have "from-external" context selected
on my outgoing calls, I have "to-extern" context selected

on my contexts, from-external has incoming call ranges set up
on my contexts, to-external no ranges are set

Well, I played with this for hours. Still no audio when I call outbound, still busy signal when calling in

I disabled fail2ban

My other issue resolved in regards to the slowness, I had another system on the same network , I assumed they were having port 5060 nd 80 conflicts, shutting down my centos incredible pbx server solved that issue

I am still stumped in regards to the audio however

Any ideas?

Hi @MarkPrattPBX: We need a good bit more info to be able to help. What is your network setup? Is there a NAT-based router in the mix? If so, what type? We run dozens of servers on the same LAN so, if you're having to shut down another server just to resolve slowness, then it sounds like problems on your LAN, not with XiVO.

so sorry, i didnt see this. I am using a ubiquiti Edgemax router, it serves as the DHCP server in my home network.
I set the raspian box to have a static ip address

so I re-installed fresh
did not add any features at all, just simple SIP setup with VOIP
still same result, no audio
busy signal when calling in

Has to be something with having the server installed locally versus public

Any suggestions on how to set all the network settings?

I am using this INSIDE my house

cable internet (public ip) -- > NAT router --> standalone debian server install
sip phone on same internal network ip

Did you set up the public and private IP addresses in your SIP settings?

In sip settings, I have my public ip address in the external ip
the domain blank
and in local network I have the ip address of the xivo server

well, i disabled that, as well as completely opened the firewall to 5060-5080 and 10001-20000
still same

I do not have same issue with incredible pbx, it worked before those changes using same trunk

Usually at about this point in typical threads some sez SOLVED.... rebooted the router or the server. Setting involving the network settings often require reboots.

5060 needs to point to your server. most modern routers require nothing else. RTP is usually managed by itself.

yes, i tried pointing/forwarding 5060 to the LAN IP of the server, reboot machines and routers
no luck

What is strange is that I can run incredible PBX with the firewall on and no ports forwarded, using the same SIP trunk

i have always used cent/redhat distro, so debian based networks are a bit strange to me

in /etc/network/interfaces I have a manually configured lan address like this:

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.200
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1

what about local host/loopback

how should that be set? is this correct?

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

ok, partial success!

outgoing call works and bidirectional audio

I changed the "local network" in SIP protocol local network to be 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0

I also changed the domain in the network configuration to be local.local and the external domain to be local.local

Still getting a busy signal when calling in....

The only reason incoming worked without forwarding 5060 was because of the way registration and keep alive works with a router. It's a temporary piece of luck that incoming calls would work. You need to forward 5060 to the server. Ideally you don't use any registration strings and the provider simply sends the call to your static IP. Some providers don't do registrations at all anymore.

You have to look at the CLI and see whats going on. Often during a problem like this you'll see nothing when the busy occurs which means you aren't getting to or through the router.

do you have the forward of the port set to UDP?

i turned up SIP debug

I have the output but not sure what to look for

it is hitting the pbx server and processing the inbound call
