We're working on a Nerd Vittles piece about QR Code® technology which is all free now. Lots of practical uses in VoIP. Free QR Code generator for any purpose is available here. QR Reader for iOS works great and is free but there's no preview of content. i-nigma for iOS does it all. There are a number of free QR Code readers for Android including Norton Snap which checks QR Codes for malicious content.

WARNING: Be very careful using QR Codes from people you don't know. Some pretty terrible things have been known to happen especially with QR Codes that redirect to malicious web sites. Details here. Much safer to use a QR Code reader that previews content!!

Here's a QR Code in international calling format to access the Nerd Vittles IVR Demo from Allison. Should work from anywhere in addition to U.S. and Canada. You don't have to pay for the call if you use option #2 with Google Hangouts.

1. Choosing Call option places the call using your cellphone carrier.

2. Choosing the Video option will let you use Grandstream Wave softphone or Google Hangouts rather than your cellphone carrier.

3. SMS Messaging to the same number is also supported by choosing the Mobile texting option.

Let us know if it works for you...
