Feb. 27 Update: The Unlimited Data Plan competition continues to escalate. Today, AT&T sweetened its unlimited plan offering by adding 10GB of free tethering to each phone on its plan. And T-Mobile announced that customers now can register three phones on its unlimited plan for only $100/month. Unlike Sprint, the T-Mobile offering has no one-year discount cutoff for customers taking advantage of the special pricing. All four major carriers in the U.S. now offer 10GB/month of tethering for each phone on an unlimited data plan.

Chevrolet is the first big car maker to offer an unlimited data plan

The plan is available from March 3rd, and will cost $20 a month. For that price, subscribers will be able to have access to a prepaid OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, enabled by AT&T, that offers unlimited data on the move.

I thought Tesla came with free internet already though ??

First BIG car maker to offer it.

Tesla (IMHO) doesn't qualify as much more than a niche market car maker similar Ferrari or Lamborghini, but much different market.

With Tesla you get Internet service for Tesla's use for the warranty period, but there is no WiFi HotSpot functionality thus far.

Just an FYI that we now have had time to test an AT&T standalone WiFi HotSpot on their new unlimited data plan. At $20 a month for unlimited* service, this is a terrific add-on for those with existing unlimited data plans that also travel or need 4G access to notebooks and tablets without individually subscribing each device. And VoIP calls using the devices are flawless if you have a 4G signal.

There are a couple options available. You can purchase the older AT&T Unite Pro (left) for under $100 on line or you can purchase the newer Unite Explore (right) directly from AT&T. Both are WiFi powerhouses with very long battery life. PCMag review here.

See the Nerd Vittles tutorial for setup tips.

* usual disclaimers about throttling after 22GB with network congestion. requires existing AT&T unlimited data plan.

Ouch. It was about that bad in the U.S. a few years back. So... there's hope. In the meantime, we'll buy your prescription drugs and you can use our unlimited data plan.

From this side of the pond (UK) US still looks very expensive. The unlimited data (with 200 min voice calls) starts at £23 (this includes all taxes) for £33 it includes unlimited calls as well.
