Good morning all:

I'd like to be able to receive SMS messages from my VOIP line.
My provider does not support SMS forwarding to a cell number, or transmission as an email.
It only supports http GET and POST methods. So, my understanding is that I have to create my own gateway with a web server and some php coding.

I looked around to find an open source gateway package but I couldn't find one. Then I thought that maybe such functionality could be piggy backed on an existing FreePBX/Asterisk system as I don't expect having heavy traffic.

I read Ward's numerous articles on the subject, but I gathered that they all start with dealing with text messages coming in as email, not as http get/post.

My first goal is to deal with incoming SMS - have them end up in my email. Then later I'd like to be able to answer those text messages from my email, but that is not my first priority right now.

Any suggestion, advice? Or maybe even software package that can be run in a virtual machine to handle SMS?

TIA
