i wanna leave Google Voice, i am tried of the stupid android app its ugly and the desktop UI sucks, i miss the default legacy, if something happens and i can only access mobile its super hard to access Legacy UI mobile then desktop and so much is missing from GV.

Really made about the whole PBX SIP thing that is what pushed me over.

i have vitelity.net been with them since 2013 but... there desktop UI is like out of date the prices and plans i cant seem to find them any more, the SMS is like whaaaa.... no app just a desktop

im looking for a VOIP Provider to replace vitelity.net & google voice

1. SMS/TEXT Through an APP and Optional Desktop like GV did.
2. FAX with no mods or tweaks.
3. Low Cost, No Deposit, No Credit Check
4. 3CX Compatibility Optional

i made the switch to voip.ms at https://voip.ms/en/invite/MjM2MjQ4

Check out VoiceTel.com, Flowroute.com and Anveo Direct. Anveo is the cheapest for a DID ($0.80/month.)

Skyetel has support for sms/mms as well. The first voip number with mms working I have found. Their setup is odd for sending but very good for forwarding to another number. Vitelity seems to work fine for me with sms using the yaxim app on android. I get the text messages just fine. S.MS (vitelity supports using this) seems to work fine on desktop for me as well.

Do they still charge if you say it is an engineer's test call while thanking them for their excellent response??
They only charge the $85 penalty if you dial 911 and don't have 911 service enabled.

It's a not a problem if dialing through astèrisk - just make sure 911 is appropriately routed.

If going through a properly configured pbx, then 911 should never get past the pbx.

If you want to directly register an endpoint with vitelity then you could have a fee if there was a mis-dial and 911 service was not activated.

I would assume most here are routing through their pbx.

Shouldn't a 911 on a ipbx voip phone, get sent to an outbound route that connects the caller to the real phone number of the geographically corresponding Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), of which there are about 6,800 in the US ? I see an E911 module here...

Granted.

More accurate to say "...911 should never get past the pbx if the trunk is not configured for 911 service."

The OP's concern was over the penalty Vitelity charges if they get a 911 call and the trunk isn't configured for it:upload_2019-2-13_15-52-51.png

I have no idea what Vitelity does with the call if 911 isn't enabled. I'm not going to pay to find out.

I have 911 configured for all my systems, assume you would too, but it's not our decision to make for the OP.

FYI - I've had carriers that charge $250 for this, and found out the hard way when someone dialed 911, then a minute later - hung up and called back again ... $500 lesson learned.

think i made a mistake switching to Skyetel, not getting 98% Text Messages

tried SMS to EMAIL, Tried SMS to phone nothing - hard to do verification for bank and other places when u cant get a text.

also tried to connect Skyetl to Pi Zero W no audio pi picks up but no audio no nothing.

i thought they would have a SMS app or web gui nothing... its hard to reply to ppl.

ugh time to port out to someone else.... grrr....

update: skyetel told m they dont support Short SMS yet where r my 11 dig sms then

For porting out of Google Voice, you might also want to take a look at the new Nerd Vittles sponsor, Skyetel. Excellent performance. Triple redundancy. Never had an outage. Free $50 credit and free port-ins on Nerd Vittles special to kick the tires.
I tried using your referral links to sign up to Skyetel but I got stuck on their registration. It is demanding I give it a mobile number and it refuses to accept any of the mobile numbers I have.
I do not like being forced to use SMS for security. I also have a personal grudge against those businesses that force you to buy a number from a couple of mobile carriers, I think it is a deceptive practice.
Technically they shouldn't care what mobile provider I am with but alas...
Unless you know of a way around the 'being forced to purchase a mobile phone from these specific providers' issue, I may have to look elsewhere.

Not suggesting this applies to you, but telecom fraud is a huge problem. Skyetel does what they believe is prudent to assure they don't get burned. Have you tried calling their support folks? They can be very helpful sometimes.
