Some of the advantages of using Office 365 within the company, besides from the ability to access office tools such as Word, Excel, etc. from either our desktop or mobile, are the use of shared calendars, storage in the cloud, professional email and from an operational point of view, users administration. But what happens when two powerful tools can be integrated to work together? Easy, productivity goes up!
A few service packs ago, we made available the integration between Elastix and Office 365, but now we have improved it, so starting from the next update of our telephony engine, 3CX v16, it is also possible to synchronize your status from the Office 365 calendar with the presence of your extension on the PBX, the Phonebook on Office 365 with the Company Phonebook on the PBX and adding a new user on Office 365 will automatically create a new extension on the PBX associated with it.
Synchronizing Office 365 users with your PBX Extensions
There’s no need to manage manually two different systems, no you just have to focus on Office 365 and the synchronization on the PBX side will be done automatically. This is because the PBX continuously monitors your Office 365 account and creates, updates or deletes a user on the PBX based on those changes.
Synchronizing your Office 365 Calendar with the Presence of your Extension
Imagine that you have a meeting scheduled on your Office 365 calendar and during that meeting your phone rings, interrupting it. This does not have to happen and be a distraction. The new integration module will automatically change the presence of your extension to “Do Not Disturb” when you’re shown as “Busy” on the Office 365 calendar or “Away” when the status is set to “Out of Office”. Once the status ends, your extension will return to the previous state.
Synchronizing Office 365 Phonebook with the PBX Company Phonebook
The versatility of Office 365 is to be able to have your contacts updated at any time and now is also possible to have them at your office or on the go using the desktop or smartphone softphone apps. Both the public and shared phonebook will be available from your extension. You will no longer have to switch between applications to search for a contact and dial the number, just open your phonebook from your desk client or mobile app, search the contact there and make the call.
We know a huge number of companies use the Office 365 suite on a day-to-day basis, so why not easier both user and administrator life by using this integration?
