Hey Ward,
You may remember me. I'm the guy that wrote the "Definitive" page out the soundcard (for overhead paging) guide way back in the A@H 0.x - 1.x days.
I would recommend to anyone if they're doing anything with T-1/PRIs at all to look at Red Fone's foneBridge. It's a dual or quad PRI module that lives OUTSIDE the system and uses Asterisk's Native TDMoE (Time Division Multiplexing over Ethernet) to talk to PC. T-1 to foneBridge - foneBridge to ethernet Port on the Asterisk box (I recommend a dedicated NIC but you don't have to.) Works Great. Has the built-in feature of High Availability - failover to an alternate Asterisk server easily. Also because it is outside the server NO IRQ or Chipset Issues!!! They have also just released a Hardware Echo Cancellation version of it.
There is only one issue. There is a bug in the Zaptel code that breaks TDMoE and Digium is aware of it but has yet to fix it. Red Fone therefore makes a patch for Zaptel to fix it. You just have to apply and recompile Zaptel, buuuuuuuttt.... If YOU GUYS could roll that into the ISO and maybe a future script to automagically handle it during/after a Zaptel Update that would be way cool.
Thanks,
Tracy
