I've just got to say thanks for an amazing find. Mine came in with US English set, and everything with your setup instructions streamlined the setup. Wow! These are awesome.
Thanks again!

I did have trouble with wep and wpa/wpa2 configuration for the wireless, couldn't get anything working and had to turn it off. FWIW

I connected on a non-secure wireless network at the house -- there is no one within a mile of me... So not sure on WPA...

Just had a nice videocall from Nerduno over SIP2SIP @ my office -- very cool.

Posted a PDF with some sample Nortel device config files in it. See page 35. Got a feeling, it'll work with this one, too. Looks like FirmwareUpdateRequest.acfg is the Magic Bullet.

I wound up turning off the security and entering the wireless mac addresses into the router table and then only the IP phones can connect if the MAC address matches.

Not the best solution! But it works. I run 2 separate networks one for phone and one for data which makes it easier.

I am still playing with updating the firmware to something recent and hope to have a drop in solution for IAF shortly.

It is a strange thing, but the first one I hooked up didn't want to talk wireless at all, but after messing with it and holding the left side of my mouth just right, I got it to go with WPA-TKIP security.

The second one won't do anything wireless, nada, nothing.

I'll try setting up a non-secured network and see if I can get it to go. Thanks guys.

Just got WiFi to work. No firmware update required.

The trick, at least if you're using WPA-PSK, is to set your WiFi password first before you pick your WiFi network.

Menu, Settings, Profile, WiFi, Enable

Menu, Settings, Profile, WiFi, Settings, Wireless Settings, Authentication, WPA-PSK. Then enter your password.

Then back out a level and choose WiFi Scanning and choose your WiFi AP.

Then back out a level and click Apply followed by restart Wireless Network (on the phone).

I've got 3 bars and calls and video are fine. :D

Have you had any issues with lockups on WiFi? In my VERY limited testing, I could get the phone to lock up (although the call audio would continue) if I changed the video window size on while on WiFi.

When doing the same thing on my LAN connection, I had no problems.

I could be the WiFi I'm on over here, but thought I'd ask if anyone else experienced that....

I am kind of curious if it is a version of the firmware that is causing the problem for example mine is HW V 1.0 SW 0.2.89 on both of the ones I have

Neither have been able to connect wirelessly unless I turn off all security just trying the suggestions above now

No lockups here. However, I did experiment and found another way to connect with WPA encryption. I turned off DHCP, entered everything manually, including ESSID, and then applied.

It rebooted and eventually connected. I then turned on DHCP and it grabbed an IP address on its own.

Very temperamental wireless. Hope the new firmware fixes it.

(corrected to show DHCP being turned off first, then turned ON after wireless got connected)

Both of my phones are on HW V 1.0 SW 0.2.89 too.

Did you try the "turn off DHCP" trick?

OK, trying to make the phones play Video on PIAF.. no luck so far

PIAF Asterisk 1.4.21.2

sip_general_custom.conf added:
videosupport=true
allow=H264

In the Freepbx phone extensions I have:
deny=all
allow=ulaw,H264

Here's an attempt to start video on an existing call (If I try new video call, audio connected but no video)

Thanks,

try in the extension allow port h263 instead works just great

The only thing I set up was the videosupport=true then amportal restart than added the allow h263 in the 2 extensions under asterisk and it just worked.

Awesome! Works GREAT extension to extension.

Now I'm going to add SIP2SIP trunk into the mix...

Has anyone actually upgraded the firmware on this phone? SD card upgrade sounds promising, but has it actually been done?

PSTN Calling Trick

Those using sip2sip.info, be aware that all PSTN calls to the U.S. have to be in the format +1NXXNXXXXXX. You can replace the + with 00 on the Nortel keypad.

So 001NXXNXXXXXX will dial any number in the U.S. once you have a credit balance. Be aware that ENUM calls which the web site say are free... actually aren't. :crazy:

...and the US rate for termination is 2.1c/min. That's why I'd rather trunk to them, accept URI video calls into PIAF, and keep my voice traffic on voip.ms or Vitelity.

Note that the rate to Canada is only $0.0055/min most places -- very similar to voip.ms -- I wonder why US termination is so high?

Pay Dirt

After considerable begging on our part, sip2sip.info has agreed to support e164.org (in addition to e164.arpa) for ENUM lookups. So all 48 million PSTN numbers registered with SIP URIs at www.e164.org now are FREE CALLS. In the U.S. and Canada, dial 001NXXNXXXXXX from your favorite SIP telephone.
