QUESTION How to solve voice lag on follow-me calls

I have 1 to 3 second voice lag on follow-me calls to cell phones. Any trouble shooting hints?
Asterisk 11.19.0 FreePBX 12.0.76.2

If your incoming provider allows re-invites then some types of transfers in Asterisk might encourage the provider to re-invite and take Asterisk out of the loop or bridge it differently. If the call stays with Asterisk then you need a fast internet, fast network cards and a fast CPU. Using the fastest codec helps too.
