I signed up with Hosted Simply (I know, they're no longer on the list) several months ago. Except for for the first few months (starting in April/May - I tried to be patient with them,) but experienced over-the-top problems and I was about to abandon them. For the past 2-3 months however, their up-time and reliability has been pretty good! BUT, I received an email message from them a few hours ago with exactly the same content as @kenn10 had referenced above. All this suggests that all of the el-cheapo providers may be "the same". But then, with a business plan that practically 'gives away' services, should we be surprised that they fail?
And there's more. Check the chatter on Low-End-Talk: https://bit.ly/38iH9c2 .
Fortunately (for me) the services I had with Hosted Simply were mostly sand-box, so even if they shut down completely ... not an overwhelming loss. Next task: find another reasonably priced provider.

Actually - take at least 2 off the list. I got the exact same wording from SnowVPS. Obviously there's some kind of relationship there. Now I have to get busy and pull my backup down and decide whether its worth trying to run from the house. It was really convenient running on a hosting service.

Virmach looks compelling for the server I need. Do I wanna go back down this LEB road, or just stick my own ESXi host at someone's house for off-site storage and be done with it. Problem there is initial server cost, maintenance, and the tech support I become for said person/family.
Don't know if it's to be trusted or not, but here's a "whitelist" of LEB Providers ... https://lowendboxes.review/the-whitelist/
There's also a "blacklist" (https://bit.ly/2PnNSsl) that's been growing since the first announcement of the Monday Shutdown that we were alerted to by @kenn10.
Just wonder, though ... how inclusive these lists are, or if there are still some 'ringers' in the mix (likely are).
Guess that it pays to be cautious, and have your backups ready if/when disaster (or deadpool) strikes again.
