I used Incredible PBX 13 ISO to do an install, and followed up with incrediblefax (hylafax), which seems to be intact.

trying to find out if this old issue has been resolved - As I recall I have to use the same admin login for hylafax as I do for incredible PBX.. not really wise to hand that out to deskjockeys so they can do faxing from their desktop....

has there been a way figured out for this yet?

I think its broken. I've done a straight Incredible Install on DO, followed only by installation of incrediblefax, and although you can add accounts, they won't allow you to login with them (nor logout from admin). I'm trying to find out why right now.

Just a quick update that I'm making some progress. The login is not the avantfax login, that shows ::AvantFAX LOGIN:: and includes a Lost Your Password and such. Still going through the details, but this is the problem.

Found the answer - protected folder - remove /etc/pbx/httpdconf/avantfax.conf

Sorry. Some of the Incredible PBX builds have Apache authentication for AvantFax... and some don't. As you've noted, removing /etc/pbx/httpdconf/avantfax.conf leaves you with the AvantFax password scheme. Or you could add additional Apache accounts. Either way works.

how would one do this?
I've tried moving that file, but to no avail.

would very much like the ability to create additional avantfax accounts, so as to not have tohand the client the same root password access to the entire box (recipe for disaster!)

as @wardmundy noted, you CAN "add accounts with Avantfax", but it would appear that it makes absolutely no difference - they are never recognized for authentification/login..

For clarity, the workflow to add multiple username / accounts to IncredibleFax and have the new users be able to send and receive FAXs is as follows:

(works on Incredible PBX 13-12.3 for Centos 6)

1) remove the file /etc/pbx/httpdconf/avantfax.conf. This now allows AvantFAX password scheme to take over instead of the Apache authentication as described above.
2) create users in AvantFax GUI (enter advanced settings by clicking small diamond ring @ top right)
3) after every new user is added edit file as follows:
nano /var/spool/hylafax/etc/hosts.hfaxd
and move the two lines localhost and 127.0.0.1 back to the top of the file, save and close. The top lines of the file hosts.hfaxd should look like this:
localhost
127.0.0.1
4) Close browser page and re-open avantfax from the IncrediblePBX GUI - this is to ensure you end up at the avantfax address and not at the avantfax/admin address - ie. http://yoursite/avantfax

Completing item 3) above is not necessary to login to AvantFax as a new user, but the new user will not be able to send a FAX from the GUI without getting error: Password:Login failed: 500 'PASS ': Syntax error, expecting password.
