TIPS Apply OS Update to Raspberry Pi

I have a new and functional installation on a Raspberry Pi 3 using the image I downloaded for Incredible PBX. Running apt update on the system shows 99 files need to be updated. Wanted to be sure there aren't any problems with applying the OS patches before I continue.

I'm running the following OS:

PRETTY_NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie)"
NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux"
VERSION_ID="8"
VERSION="8 (jessie)"

Incredible PBX 13.0.192.19

I rebuilt a week ago and ran apt-get update and upgrade and it worked fine.

Did you ever determine what caused the problem?

You should update your system prior to installing AvantFax.

After that is when I had the issue with upgrading.

I plan on imaging my system again then installing that update to see what changes. I will not get to that one for a few days.

Unfortunately, I already installed fax. I may take a backup image and then run the update. Don't have time to rebuild just now if the update breaks things.
