Until the end of July, 2017...

Buy any iPhone and get a year of unlimited* talk, text, data for $1. Usual twisted interpretation of unlimited on the usually crappy Sprint network...

Sprint is ok if you leave in a metro area but in hill country or rural it's pretty bad

I was always in the "Sprint Sucks" camp (used VZW for years), but then:
  • Met GF 8 years ago. She'd always been on Sprint (had a flip phone at the time) and never had a problem. Moved her to VM to save a ton and she never had a problem. Recently moved her to Boom using the Sprint network because her VM phone went wonky and I had a perfectly serviceable Sprint Volt lying around. Not having a problem...
  • I made RingPlus my primary two years ago because it was free. Got 18 months worth of SprintNet service for $5-plus-tax total and it worked fine. Moved to Ting and it worked fine. Right now I'm dabbling with FreedomPop SprintNet LTE only as my primary cell and it works surprisingly well. Who knew?
I/we live in Chicago and Sprint is pretty good here. But we both travel extensively and really haven't had any problems. My need for a cell is modest and I'm happy to go without. But the GF uses her SprintNet cell as her only phone -- has for years. She's quite happy.

So: YMMV...
