SOLVED One way audio in ring groups

Thank all of you for the help & suggestions... I finally said "uncle!" and moved the PBX to a VM in our off-site data center (no Comcast connection) which has a direct microwave link to our building. So far, so good.

SOLVED One way audio in ring groups

Yep, PBX and extensions are on the same network, same subnet, same LAN (not VLAN'd). Simple setup, PBX and ~15 phones.

SOLVED One way audio in ring groups

There's no way to replicate it every time. The only thing I've been able to replicate is that using the DISA to reach extensions gives us 2-ways audio 100% of the time. The ring group is a crap shoot. The odd part is that this system just started doing this. No changes have been made to...

SOLVED One way audio in ring groups

That log is from one of the failed calls. Incoming from Bandwidth.com, hit Ring Group 600, I answered on 20995. I could hear the caller, but they couldn't hear me. It's only calls to the ring group which have an issue. If I use a DISA to get to a specific extension, 2-way audio every time...

SOLVED One way audio in ring groups

Thank you for taking a look at this... It's been a mixed bag today, some calls have 2-way audio, some have one-way only. Here's one of the failed calls (attached)

SOLVED One way audio in ring groups

I'm scratching my head on this one. So on incoming calls to ring groups, there's one-way audio. We can hear the caller, but they can't hear us. Outbound calls have two-way audio. Inbound calls to our DISA then to the ring group have 2-way audio. Does anyone have any suggestions on where...

    Which OS do you run?

Which OS is everyone favoring these days? I'm finally retiring my ancient PIAF (Cent OS 5.5, Asterisk 1.4.32) system. Any benefits of Ubuntu over Debian or vice versa? Any other words of wisdom? I'm not even going to bother to try migrating settings. I doubt any of them would carry...

DEAL Polycom IP 6000 Conference Phones

Just a heads-up on these. After awhile they do seem to go bad. I had a couple at my office and over time they'd lock up while idle. All of the red LEDs would illuminate steady and screen would be blank. Power cycling them would bring them back for awhile...until they'd die again...

RECOMMENDATIONS Routers... what's in your rack?

Hi all, What's everyone using for routers? I have a ~8 year old PIAF setup using 2x WRT54GL routers (I know, they're old, but they're mostly reliable). One of the WRTs is starting to act a little flakey. PFSense is my go-to, but many years ago I tried to switch this network over to...

GO HERE Does anyone use Cellular Data for failover? Recomendations?

It's been ages (CDMA/EVDO) since I last played with trying to run G.711 over cell. Has anyone tried running it over LTE? Are the connections reliable enough to run the PBX off of it? I know there are GSM VoIP gateways available, but that's just going to give you an alternate trunk.

    RECOMMENDATIONS VM for production system

Does anyone here run PIAF/Incredible as a VM in a production environment? If so, what are you using and any thoughts/wisdom? Also, any hardware recs? The advantages of VMs being easily backed up and hardware agnostic have a huge appeal to me. Not terribly interested in running other VMs on...

    GO HERE Blacklist Sources

+1 for CID Superfecta. It's worked quite well for us. Also, if you can get away with it, install Hello It's Lenny. Telemarketers only seem to deal with that one once and never call back.

    GOOD NEWS It's Lenny!

I hope Lenny never goes totally away! Lenny dutifully takes all of our telemarketing & other undesirable calls and has done so for many years. He never seems to get upset by them either. Reminds me that I need to get a fresh copy of Lenny for a PIAF replacement project I'm working on...

FYI OSS EPM Commercial on PIAF Purple?

I also would like to know what other people are using to manage endpoints. Currently using Cisco 7960, Sipura ATAs, will be moving over to Polycoms and Yealinks.

RECOMMENDATIONS ATA for Polycom conference room phone

I'm still using the ancient Sipura SPA-2000 and Linksys PAP-2 ATAs for our systems. I've had to reduce the volume level when connecting to the Polycoms, but that's not a bad problem and it's easy to fix in the ATA's config screen.

TUTORIAL Installing t*f*t*p for Endpoint Management

Just some words of caution to those looking to do t*f*t*p: DO NOT let t*f*t*p be exposed to the internet. I had someone from Pakistan drilling away on my t*f*t*p server, looking for Polycom config files. Fortunately, there weren't any, but he was drilling away for a few days on it, to the point that...

RECOMMENDATIONS What modem to use for Comcast Business

My recommendation is to *NOT* use Comcast for business purposes, ever, at least if you value your business. I've seen many people try, but at least in these parts it's a recipe for frustration and disaster. I'll echo what the others have said -- Comcast is unable to provision Static IPs...

    1.4 and 1.6 to 1.8 upgrade tool

I'd like to see something that would at least carry over the extensions if nothing else. Those are usually the largest number of entries, and also are the easiest to fat-finger, even when copy/pasting.
