Thank all of you for the help & suggestions... I finally said "uncle!" and moved the PBX to a VM in our off-site data center (no Comcast connection) which has a direct microwave link to our building. So far, so good.

Yep, PBX and extensions are on the same network, same subnet, same LAN (not VLAN'd). Simple setup, PBX and ~15 phones.

That log is from one of the failed calls. Incoming from Bandwidth.com, hit Ring Group 600, I answered on 20995. I could hear the caller, but they couldn't hear me. It's only calls to the ring group which have an issue. If I use a DISA to get to a specific extension, 2-way audio every time...

Which OS is everyone favoring these days? I'm finally retiring my ancient PIAF (Cent OS 5.5, Asterisk 1.4.32) system. Any benefits of Ubuntu over Debian or vice versa? Any other words of wisdom? I'm not even going to bother to try migrating settings. I doubt any of them would carry...

Just a heads-up on these. After awhile they do seem to go bad. I had a couple at my office and over time they'd lock up while idle. All of the red LEDs would illuminate steady and screen would be blank. Power cycling them would bring them back for awhile...until they'd die again...

It's been ages (CDMA/EVDO) since I last played with trying to run G.711 over cell. Has anyone tried running it over LTE? Are the connections reliable enough to run the PBX off of it? I know there are GSM VoIP gateways available, but that's just going to give you an alternate trunk.

Does anyone here run PIAF/Incredible as a VM in a production environment? If so, what are you using and any thoughts/wisdom? Also, any hardware recs? The advantages of VMs being easily backed up and hardware agnostic have a huge appeal to me. Not terribly interested in running other VMs on...

+1 for CID Superfecta. It's worked quite well for us. Also, if you can get away with it, install Hello It's Lenny. Telemarketers only seem to deal with that one once and never call back.

I hope Lenny never goes totally away! Lenny dutifully takes all of our telemarketing & other undesirable calls and has done so for many years. He never seems to get upset by them either. Reminds me that I need to get a fresh copy of Lenny for a PIAF replacement project I'm working on...

I also would like to know what other people are using to manage endpoints. Currently using Cisco 7960, Sipura ATAs, will be moving over to Polycoms and Yealinks.

I'm still using the ancient Sipura SPA-2000 and Linksys PAP-2 ATAs for our systems. I've had to reduce the volume level when connecting to the Polycoms, but that's not a bad problem and it's easy to fix in the ATA's config screen.

Just some words of caution to those looking to do t*f*t*p: DO NOT let t*f*t*p be exposed to the internet. My recommendation is to *NOT* use Comcast for business purposes, ever, at least if you value your business. I've seen many people try, but at least in these parts it's a recipe for frustration and disaster. I'll echo what the others have said -- Comcast is unable to provision Static IPs...

I'd like to see something that would at least carry over the extensions if nothing else. Those are usually the largest number of entries, and also are the easiest to fat-finger, even when copy/pasting.
