FYI Last Day to Comment on FCC 'Ringless Voicemail' Spam Proposal

Figured this is as good a place to post this seeing its related to phones :) Copied directly from dslreports: Last week we noted how the FCC, eager to please the advertising industry, has been considering a rule change that would allow for "ringless voicemail." The proposal would allow...

SOLVED TrueCNAM: The Spammer's Worst Nightmare

I signed up for the free account. Not very impressed so far with whatever database they're using for lookups. Spent my 25 free lookups testing and a lot of nbrs which existed in OpenCNAM, Whitepages, 411info, Yellowpages, Google came up blank with truecnam. I even tried phone nbrs of major...

NO JOY Gotcha-Free PBX on Old RasPi

Its an SD card speed issue. I had the same problem and believe I'm the one Ward mentioned who managed to install on the older 512K Pi. I cheated by compiling and building everything using a USB drive. Just as you did with burning the Raspian image to the SD card, do the same to the USB drive...

    I HAVE A DREAM Raspberry Pi 2 + Gotcha-Free PBX

I used the same Pi2 script and compiled on a 512K Pi (older version, not the B+) and everything started normally, except for Port Knocker which had a segfault. I looked at the install log and everything seems normal, no serious errors. Make sure you have at least a Class 6 SD card else it...

    PIONEERS Lenny Is Back!

Tried the latest version but Lenny keeps talking after the 3rd clip, even when the caller doesn't say anything. The very first version will not continue until the caller says something. Hello... this is Lenny caller speaks Sorry, I can barely hear you caller repeats yes, yes, yes From here...

    PIONEERS Lenny Is Back!

I too had this problem with the initial code posted. I then replaced the 3.gsm file with the backgroundnoise.ulaw file from the "other forum" and its working great. Lenny will prompt with hello once, then caller responds, then Lenny will do the "I cannot hear you" (not sure if this was...

FUNNY STUFF PIAF on a Raspberry PI?

I actually have Freepbx and Asterisk 1.8 compiled on Debian working very well on the Sheevaplug. All Freepbx functionalities and modules work. You'll be surprised at how efficient the ARM platform is. No g729 but I never use it anyway. Head over to http://www.plugpbx.org/ for more details...

    Best residential use of PIAF?

I'm also thinking of doing this as my home is controlled with a Homevision controller. Would be great to be able to integrate and control with phone as well. If you ever get this working, pls share your setup. Thanks.

How to edit a file in CentOS?

For linux newbies, easiest way I've found is to install WinSCP (winscp.com) on any of your windows PCs. Then login to your PIAF box from WinSCP using your root userID and password and you can navigate like "Windows Explorer" and double-click on any file to edit it in a windows environment. No...

Error msg: Indication country 'us' is invalid??

YUP - upgrading to Freepbx 2.6 fixes this bug. Now it only creates tones for the country you select in Freepbx General section in indications.conf. Previous version generated tones for all countries. WARNING - FREEPBX 2.5.2.3 DOES NOT WORK WITH ASTERISK 1.6

Error msg: Indication country 'us' is invalid??

Did more googling. Looks like a known Freepbx bug and fixed in version 2.6 - freepbx.org/trac/ticket/3841. Time to upgrade and see what happens

Error msg: Indication country 'us' is invalid??

Eric - thanks for your prompt response. I initially thought it was a bad install too, so I've re-installed 3 times and still same problem, so I dont think anything's corrupted. When I change to UK in Freepbx for testing, the "country=" setting gets changed to UK in indications.conf and then I...

    Rank newbie requesting help

If you're running Asterisk 1.4, run passwd-master and you can set all your passwords there - just follow the prompts. passwd-master16 for Asterisk 1.6.

Error msg: Indication country 'us' is invalid??

New problem - since this is a Freepbx file, it gets overwritten everytime I reload Freepbx. Is there somewhere else this information is copied from so that I can change it once and make it stick? Is no one else getting this problem? Freepbx seems to not have this line in its indications.conf...
