    FYI whois experts wanted

I talked to a network engineer, looks like whois data is out of date, nobody seems to care. Current routes may be obtained via above mentioned ipinfo or several other locations. For cli query one can extract http://archive.routeviews.org/oix-route-views/oix-full-snapshot-latest.dat.bz2 and query...

    FYI whois experts wanted

I would greatly appreciate if anyone could explain why a method recommended by /usr/local/sbin/iptables-custom whois -h whois.radb.net -- '-i origin AS36180' | grep ^route: | awk '{print $2}' is missing 12.x.x.x/24 and several other entries present on https://ipinfo.io/AS36180 page?

That was a quick and simplest workaround. I now have a clean permanent sysctemd based solution if anyone is interested.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT Rocky 8 IncrediblePBX2022.18.15-1.sh

I've never asked to blindly patch. As you noticed the patch is full of quesions and TODOs. On the second though the whole yum/dnf install part must be rewritten from scratch. There are still obsolete CentOS6 and obsolete i386 code leftovers. I am sure you don't need anyone's help for it. I...

SOLVED iPBX Install on Oracle 8 and Oracle Cloud

You keep bringing it up again. Well, here you go. The root cause of this particular problem is that script blindly takes $SSH_CONNECTION value doing zero attempt to validate it. I would kindly suggest adding an if statement in case no value is found then ask user to enter one. In general, the...

SOLVED iPBX Install on Oracle 8 and Oracle Cloud

I have a habit of always doing su - root since it is a cleaner way of doing things. And haven't I said I consider IP whitelist problem completely solved? What is the point of beating a dead horse?
  7. Q

SOLVED iPBX Install on Oracle 8 and Oracle Cloud

I found the reason why remote IP address is not detected in my environment. Script expects $SSH_CONNECTION to be set which is not always the case, especially when su or sudo is involved. The sequence of commands listed on page does work properly but it does not explain why exact sequence must be...

With all do respect to you, I, as one who fixed a number of bugs in your code base, would suggest you reading below fable very carefully before making statements about someone's bugs. Ivan Krylov Mirror and Monkey The Monkey looking at her image in a mirror Conspiratorially whispered to the...

    please try something like userip=`last -1 | head -1 | while read A B IP REST;do echo $IP;done` as a fallback in case ssh_connection method fails.

SOLVED iPBX Install on Oracle 8 and Oracle Cloud

Here you go. I found the root cause. Your way of determining peer IP address is not reliable. Please find a better way or provide a dialog box for user to enter its IP address if automatic detection fails for any reason. root@upbx:~ $ echo $SSH_CONNECTION | cut -f 1 -d " " WARNING: Always run...

Well, If you recall I provided a crucial bug fix for SRTP many years ago and Oracle 8 fixes recently. I can't be blamed for pure talk.

    ALERT The Future of FreePBX

Well, huge corporations in my circle of interest don't use debian derivatives in production. They prefer licensing support from RHEL derivative providers. I don't disagree that there are debian derivatives support providers as well though.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT Rocky 8 IncrediblePBX2022.18.15-1.sh

In addition Rocky and all other RHEL derivatives appear to exhibit a bug which makes knockd unusable. I would recommend adding systemctl start knockd to /etc/rc.d/rc.local which already contains a bunch of PBX items.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT Rocky 8 IncrediblePBX2022.18.15-1.sh

Which installer have you fixed? As of right now IncrediblePBX2022.18.15-1.sh still has chmod -R 770 /root in it.
  18. Q

    ALERT The Future of FreePBX

As far as I know no corporation will use debian on any production servers. Ubuntu may be and only if RHEL derivative is not available for any reason.
