ALERT Vitelity seems do be down

Call forwarding to pstn number is working (for now). Failover seemed flaky. But... We are provisioned to the SBC, not registered, so your mileage may vary.

TRY THIS Crazy Times, Crazy City, (Not so) Crazy People. (TGIF!)

A good contrast of two different visions. The Disney booth was probably designed about the same time as the 2001 version. 2001 released in 1968, Disney World opened in 1971, presumably designed a few years earlier. With a few style updates, the Kubrick scene could easily be mistaken for...

TRY THIS Crazy Times, Crazy City, (Not so) Crazy People. (TGIF!)

Reminds me of going to Disney World TomorrowLand, probably close to 20 years ago. They had the phone booth of the future - complete with video screen and ROTARY DIAL. I got a kick out of the retro-future feel. The park designers must have thought otherwise - the entire thing painted a solid...

FOOD FOR THOUGHT OT - Foldable Samsung Phones

Nothing unusual at all. Standard annual release schedule 2019 v1, 2020 v2, 2021 v3. But yes, the v1 had design issues and was pulled from the market pretty quickly. The Fold 2 was generally well received, but I haven't looked for any long-term wear and tear reviews, no clue how they say it...

FOOD FOR THOUGHT OT - Foldable Samsung Phones

Yeah, somewhere I saw the number of "test folds" was some sufficiently ridiculous number that there shouldn't be much of an issue in theory, but real world "we never though someone could use it like that" exceptions will no doubt occur. More concerned about general wear/tear/scratching on the...

FYI Covid Update: AstriCon 2021 Goes Virtual - Bring on IncrediCon

Flu shot is a different animal completely. Each year's vaccine targets different strains, with 100+ years experience with the underlying tech. Covid is just hoping more of the identical vaccine will make things better. Exactly. There are reasons no other mRNA vaccine has been approved in...

FYI Covid Update: AstriCon 2021 Goes Virtual - Bring on IncrediCon

Weighing unknown v unknown is too nebulous for me to consider. I'm a numbers guy and look at data available. We don't know if the vaccine has a postive or negative impact on mutations. Pre-Pandemic/Pre-Politicized studies suggest imperfect non-sterilizing vaccines (precisely what the covid...

FYI Covid Update: AstriCon 2021 Goes Virtual - Bring on IncrediCon

Your math is right, with the possible exception case count. Last CDC estimate was true case count is 3x-5x. There is a CDC page somewhere about "covid burden" that uses something along the lines of the 3x number, so case/death rate in the 0.5-0.6% range. But... 95% of deaths are the 50+...

FYI Covid Update: AstriCon 2021 Goes Virtual - Bring on IncrediCon

I wouldn't say hate - thats a strong word, but I've thought the guy was a politcal hack and mostly full of **it for a decade or more, long before any of this covid us vs them mentality. You don't stay in that position as long as he has without a very brown nose. I'm not anti-vax, I was among...

TIPS Incoming calls blocked. Is it a firewall issue?

Use sngrep to monitor traffic(apt-get install sngrep). sngrep sees traffic BEFORE iptables processes it. If you see the traffic in sngrep but not asterisk, then it is likely a bad iptables ruleset. Less likely could be asterisk config, but for any asterisk config issue I would expect some...

SUGGESTIONS OT: Search PBX recordings for a keyword

Deepspeech is the only one I've spent any real time with and is pretty easy. Curious how the VPS instances will cope. DS will peg the CPU. Not a problem if a 30sec burst for a voicemail, but some schedulers may penalize and throttle if it's for hours of nonstop recordings.

SUGGESTIONS OT: Search PBX recordings for a keyword

You should be able to narrow the target files using CDR if there is a particular source/destination you can target. There are multiple speech to text libraries to run the data through, but @dicko is right, it will take a LOT of time. Most of the STT utils transcription speed isn't much, if any...

"systemctl enable postfix" as listed above should start postfix at every boot.

SOLVED Changed from Sendmail to Postfix - Now this...

Nah, sendmail sucks, and mutt/mailx still need an MTA. Arguably all FreePBX really needs is something like ssmtp or msmtp as the MTA. Config would be simplified, but messages would just error out vs being queued if connectivity to the mail server is down. But @cporantes didn't need anything...

SOLVED Changed from Sendmail to Postfix - Now this...

For a mail server sending direct to another MX, yes. But... I think of the PBX more like an office copier/scanner, and nobody I know sets up dkim, spf, dmarc for a copier. You give the copier a send only address on your domain mail server it can authenticate to, or point the copier to a...

SOLVED Changed from Sendmail to Postfix - Now this...

It's where he ended up after this thread: https://www.voip-info.org/forum/forums/incredible-pbx-formerly-piaf-3-forum.37/ For an IPBX user, I'm not sure it was really necessary to go down the postfix path, a lot of talking past each other in the thread. On the other hand, I can't blame anyone...

DEAL Polycom IP 6000 Conference Phones

We must not be looking at the same ebay. I suppose double sales tax would be avoidable with standard resale/sales tax exemptions being in place between the seller and carrier, just like any other resale transaction. A little research shows more states than not require sales tax on shipping...

DEAL Polycom IP 6000 Conference Phones

No doubt they are rounding everything in their favor, but the "& Handling" portion complicates the issue. They don't have much incentive to change unless they get vocal push back - which doesn't seem to be happenng.

    TIPS Disconnecting former employee

Assuming your talking about the all.sipis.acrobits.cz address, iptables should add any IPs returned by "nslookup all.sipis.acrobits.cz". But as @Samot suggests, it doesn't do this dynamically, names are resolved at the time the rule is added. Last I checked, @wardmundy is pretty liberal with...
