Has your PBX been hacked / paid for toll fraud?

Has your Asterisk based PIAF PBX been hacked, and have you suffered financially (big $ on your phone bill) from the fraud? If so we'd like to learn from you how they got in and what you did about it. As a thank you we are giving away 20 copies of our Security for Asterisk (SecAst) commercial...

    TUTORIAL Original Asterisk Upgrade Script

The script actually works with CentOS 7 (I'm upgrading from Ast 13.7 to 13.18 tonight) The only change I had to make to the script was to add "--with-pjproject-bundled" to the configure command to cause it to pull in the pjsip as a standalone package.

FYI Is PIAF Good for Big Deployments?

As an Asterisk related software vendor I can tell you that PIAF is becoming popular in mid-size installations (and we've even seen a couple of large PIAF installations now too). I don't think the reason is functionality / capability, 'hobby' vs 'pro', free vs paid, etc; remember these are...

FOOD FOR THOUGHT Is VOIP HIPAA Compliant?

There is no official HIPAA certification process for telephony solutions, so it is impossible to say a solution is "HIPAA certified". However, you can apply the HIPAA regulations to design a solution which may be HIPAA compliant. The "solution" includes protecting not only the data on the UC...

    BUG Superfecta suddenly stopped working

I'm running iPBX and after a month of everything working, suddenly calls hangup immediately upon arrival at the PBX. As you can see from the dialplan output below, superfecta is suddenly returning exit code 4 (which I think causes the AGI to hangup the call). [2016-04-13 18:48:01]...

    FYI Meetme Conference not working

OK removed. I have 2 more problematic icons: The next is 'Voicemail & Recordings'. Selecting this icon seems to bring up something like the UCP...not sure what this does (or if it's used)...

    FYI Meetme Conference not working

On to my next non-functioning piece...(CentOS 7 install). When I click the Meetme Conference icon I get only a few elements onscreen and the apache error log shows: [Mon Mar 07 18:27:15.814930 2016] [:error] [pid 15998] [client 192.168.1.2:62647] PHP Notice: Undefined variable: order in...

FYI Telephone Reminders www page generates 500 error

That worked! Not sure if that means an install script didn't finish...? Any possible side effects I should look for? (Or is this a common problem)

    I'm afraid that didn't do it...problem

FYI Telephone Reminders www page generates 500 error

I'm working my way through an iPBX + CentOS7 install and have the basics working now. I'm starting to try the various iPBX apps, and when i click the 'Telephone Reminders' icon from the kennonsoft menu I get a 500 error. If I launch the /reminders/index.php script from the linux command line I...

    TIPS Detecting fax

I have the latest iPBX installed, along with hylafax. Outbound fax works fine, but I'm not sure how to setup inbound fax detection (with IAXmodem) in an acceptable way. I see on the inbound routes I can enabled fax detection (it says using DAHDI even though I'm receiving via IAX). If enabled...

NEW Updated 'status' script for CentOS 7

I've attached an updated 'status' script which works with CentOS 7. It also does a better job detecting one UP/DN, and can report Asterisk version even if Asterisk is not running. Also adds dynamic addition of SecAst & Haast UP/DN if they are installed on the system (if not installed then they...

    BUG Kennonsoft menu bug

I would like to submit a minor fix to the kennonsoft menu. In file index.php (root of site) line 314 where it builds the menu, it checks to see if components are present in order to add to the menu. However, if a component (http) is protected by password it is mistakenly not added to the menu...

FYI CentOS 7 + IncredibleFAX install fails

Since AvantFax is essential for PIAF users, I won't invest more time in the installer script for now. But for anyone following this same path, you will need to add one more service file (/etc/systemd/system/hylafax.service): [Unit] Description=HylaFAX [Service] User=root Group=root...

FYI CentOS 7 + IncrediblePBX install fails

I've attached an update to the status program which had a couple of bugs/incompatibilities. The test for fail2ban did not work properly (now tests for service status), and the test for hylafax did not work properly (now ignore grep in grep result). As well I added a couple of optional lines...

TIPS Update compatibility with SecAst (fail2ban replacement)

OK - that one's done. I seem to recall a PIAF update also trying to restart fail2ban. Do the individual update scripts also attempt to control fail2ban?

FYI CentOS 7 + IncredibleFAX install fails

avantfax is a bit more complicated...the v3.3.5 of avantfax has a RH installer, but it's not RH7/CentOS7 friendly yet. I'm not going to try to fix their installer - so expect no AvantFax functionality for now.

TIPS Update compatibility with SecAst (fail2ban replacement)

I'm starting to install SecAst (from www.telium.ca) as a fail2ban replacement, and while straightforward I notice that ipbx/piaf updates assume that fail2ban is running (and force a start/restart of fail2ban) - which will conflict with SecAst. I wonder if future ipbx/piaf updates scripts could...

FYI CentOS 7 + IncredibleFAX install fails

Some highlights so far: some packages (like cron-vixie) have been renamed, and some are deprecated init scripts are now longer used with systemd (but are compatible) inittab is no longer used - faxgetty's have to become systemd services (not just appended to inittab) I'm using the latest...

FYI CentOS 7 + IncredibleFAX install fails

I now have a running/stable CentOS 7 + IncrediblePBX install (I think). Basic use of the GUI suggests things are working now. Next I wanted to add the IncredibleFAX using the incrediblefax11.sh script. I fails early on (expectation of FreePBX repo fails, PIAF-green fails, CentOS 6.x fails...
