    TIPS Incredible for VitalPBX

You typically want to change SSH ports to reduce the noise from all the scanner bots hammering port 22. The goal is to decrease logging activity and network activity and therefore load. Less activity also means less chance of a compromise but that is not the primary goal imo. You're never...

ALERT Voip Innovations Purchased by Sangoma

Just migrated away from VI. Their pricing and features were not competitive with others out there and haven't been for a long time imo. I sure hope Sangoma got a bargain because the competitive landscape does not look favorable for them unless they drop their prices considerably. This...

    TIPS Incredible for VitalPBX

Right now they say it's ok for commercial use but those things can change over time.

    TIPS Incredible for VitalPBX

What are people's opinions on VitalPBX terms of service and software licensing scheme? It's not open source after all with no access to the source code.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT Vultr IncrediblePBX 15-16 audio issues with iptables

Are you sure you are not banning yourself because of maybe a bad password on an extension or something? Did you try disable fail2ban?

NEWS FLASH Tony Lewis et al Leaving Sangoma

Sounds like TL's new company wants to do cloud provisioning. There is already someone doing the same thing. https://phonism.com/

    QUESTION Opensips integration

I could be wrong but it sounds like you are talking about Kamailio in front of NAT. I am talking about putting it behind NAT, which is necessary if you want to use a service like Amazon/Azure/Google.

    QUESTION Opensips integration

Can something like dsiprouter (easily) work on an Amazon/Google/Azure instance or is it better to use something like DigitalOcean where you don't have to deal with NAT? Either with the Asterisk servers also behind NAT or not.

FYI Moving PBX to the Cloud

I found that if you are doing lots of BLF that can create lots of bandwidth spikes over the cloud. Every time a call is setup or torn down every single BLF on every phone gets a separate chunk of bytes over the wire. That adds up to a lot of traffic all happening at the same time. If it's...

FYI Moving PBX to the Cloud

I am not sure why some people seem to think 5g is this revolutionary thing. It's just an incremental improvement from 4g as far as I can tell, and the benefits are things that mostly benefit the telco's not the end-users. As you said, you can use 4g with existing infrastructure as a backup...

FOOD FOR THOUGHT Managing External IP Address

I am sure this is an unpopular opinion but I have found that fail2ban causes more problems than it prevents and almost not worth the effort. I prefer to use public blacklists and my own honeypots now. All you are really doing with fail2ban or blacklists is reducing the background noise a...

Why not? Premise based hasn't made sense for many years. Other than some edge cases where they don't have a choice.

NEW Incredible 16-15.2 for CentOS 7

So in other words it's shinier. If it uses PHP7 that probably makes it worthwhile I guess. However, that last blog post from the guy who is no longer there seems to indicate they haven't updated all the modules yet.

NEW Incredible 16-15.2 for CentOS 7

Isn't FreePBX 15 still beta? Why use it, other than just for playing around? Especially now that the entire future of the project is kind of up in the air.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT Centos 6/7 Sendmail Smarthost Not Working

I would replace sendmail with postfix for starters. That error seems to indicate it's not even reaching gmail. Maybe try disable your firewall and see what happens but it should not be blocking outbound to begin with. Also make sure selinux is disabled.

I HAVE A DREAM IVOZ Provider - Multitenant solution for VoIP telephony providers

It seems to work well. Uses Cgrates for billing but can only do outbound billing for now. Not a huge amount of PBX features yet but a very good start and solid foundation to build on. I like that it uses Asterisk which I find a little easier to work with than Freeswitch.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT PHP 7.2 Centos 7 Incredible PBX and 13-13

If we are talking about Omens. You hardly see any mention of FreePBX on the Sangoma website. It used to be all over the place. They mostly just talk about PBXact. I don't know much about PBXact or Digiums SwitchVox product but seems to me they are kind of the same sort of product are they...

NEWS FLASH Robocall Update from FTC

What the telemarketers are doing right now is already illegal. That certainly hasn't stopped them. They are all overseas from what I understand and there is no easy way to enforce US laws in the countries they are in.
