LOL, muck usually isn't in IT's job description. I've thought about setting up for disaster recovery services. Short-term rentals. Have hardware on the ready in hard cases. It could be retired equipment, nothing fancy. Drop off the kit and setup with wireless gateways or Starlink. And now you...

    ALERT The Future of FreePBX

Yeah, my cell went out in the last storm and the tower is on my roof with no damage and generators were fine... But I do have a ham radio! Dial-up can also be a solid option for email.

    ALERT The Future of FreePBX

Girls and guys, this is the reality. Like copper, freePBX is gold. It's solid but not liquid -- it's in the ground but not dead yet, as the old joke goes about POTS. In times of distress, people will go to the stable. In an extreme example, after a hurricane copper works. Or like in COVID...

    ALERT The Future of FreePBX

After taking a closer look at this, I have to take offense. What is this "Free Domestic Calls in the Continental United States" about? You'd think a phone in DC's airport would be more inclusive. And you'd think (should think) that a quasi-governmental authority would be savvy enough not to get...

SUGGESTIONS What do you use to monitor systems?

Thanks, man. I use pfSense, too. Are you using Monit for IoT and micro-servers because the Zabbix agent is too heavy?

SUGGESTIONS What do you use to monitor systems?

Thanks for the heads up on VoipMonitor. I may be sticking with Zabbix. I found this guy's blog. Very good howtos for some advanced stuff. https://bestmonitoringtools.com/create-zabbix-maps-with-examples/ The network maps on section 5a are awesome along with the geo maps on 5c. I can give the...

SUGGESTIONS What do you use to monitor systems?

Good morning everyone, I'm building a new business from bare metal. I've traditionally used Zabbix with non-VoIP stuff. I've played with Nagios in the past but kept with Zabbix for whatever reason. Is one better for VoIP than the other? As in having more baked-in goodies and availability of...

GO HERE Is there a market for selling old vanity DIDs

After browsing their site a little more, I see that some of the listings are tagged with "exclusive." In the sample area code I querried I selected to show 300 listings per page resulting in 8 pages. The exclusive listings were only on the first page and only about a third of that.

... they don't list a phone number of their own and their mailing address is a PO box. Almost like they're expecting torches and pitchforks.
