FYI Schmooze bought by Sangoma Canada

Hi there! I'll comment here briefly on my own personal opinion on the acquisition of Schmooze by Sangoma. I certainly can't speak for all of Digium - but I can speak as a guy who spends most waking hours working on the Asterisk project. The Asterisk project works because of "coopetition" -...

    PIONEERS Gemeinschaft 3 Development Returns

Prefacing all of this with a hearty "IANAL": The configuration files included with Asterisk would be covered by the LICENSE file included with Asterisk. Modifications to those files - that is, taking that file, adding or removing small portions, and re-using them - would fall under the...

    PIONEERS Gemeinschaft 3 Development Returns

Hi Ward! I saw that you referenced Asterisk's usage of FreePBX here, and felt like I should probably chime in. Derivative works under the GPLv2 occur when compilation or linking - either static or dynamic - occurs with executable code. With Asterisk, this occurs when Asterisk is modified and...

GOOD NEWS Asterisk-GUI: The Adventure Continues

ou812: yup, you're correct. It is no longer maintained. Unless someone is interested in maintaining it themselves in a forked repo, I would not recommend using it.

GOOD NEWS Asterisk-GUI: The Adventure Continues

Yup, if the source is unmodified and pulled from the repo, there shouldn't be any issues. It's only if modifications are made to the Asterisk-GUI that there'd have to be a change in the images.

GOOD NEWS Asterisk-GUI: The Adventure Continues

Whoops! Just as a heads up, I should clarify slightly - images cannot be used in any derivative works of the Asterisk-GUI without permission from Digium. From http://svn.asterisk.org/svn/asterisk-gui/trunk/LICENSE:

GOOD NEWS Asterisk-GUI: The Adventure Continues

Hey Ward! Just curious, where are you pulling the Asterisk-GUI from? I do know that whatever changes Grandstream has made have not been pushed back to the repo at http://svn.asterisk.org/svn/asterisk-gui/. Not that they have to push those changes up stream mind you - it is an open source...

    TRY THIS sqlite2 in PIAF

Hey everyone: The crash that occurred indicated that there was a memory corruption in libsqlite, hence why it got closed. As I mentioned in IRC, there isn't much Asterisk can do in that kind of situation - we asked the library to execute a SQL statement, and in response, the library blew up...

    ALERT Grandstream UCM6100 PBX

Hey Ward - Prefacing everything with "IANAL": We discovered that the Grandstream UCM6100 user interface appeared to be based on the Asterisk GUI as well. Grandstream does not have a commercial license from Digium to distribute a derived work of the Asterisk GUI outside of the GPLv2; hence...
