    SUGGESTIONS Wireless Phone Options

OK, I'm looking for replacements for the DP715 setup here... Looking at the KX-TGP500B04 and wondering why you can have only 3 concurrent voice calls through the system when you can have up to 8 total handsets (each with a different extension). Can someone who has experience with these chime in...

    SUGGESTIONS Wireless Phone Options

I know this thread is a bit old, but a warning about the DP715's... I deployed a 5-handset DP715 setup about 2 months ago and as of last Saturday, it completely stopped receiving calls. Outgoing works fine, but incoming doesn't work at all and it's not a PBX-side issue, since the setup doesn't...

FYI Raspberry Pi: "Pushing it" too far?

When I bought my first one, I wrote a python program that throttled a fan off a GPIO pin, based on the temp. It worked well, but I eventually just went back to stock. I wouldn't worry about it as long as you have heat sinks on everything. :cheers2:

    TIPS Home phone

Ah yep, you are correct and I just had a momentary lapse there... Must be all these things I'm trying to do simultaneously! Yes, you must at least get the number from the telco in order to match it to something in superfecta. That does require CID service on the telco line...

    TIPS Home phone

No, you can safely plug it in with other phones plugged in as well. I have what I refer to as a "hot phone" that I leave plugged directly into a wall jack. This means if I have any issues with the PBX, I can still pick up the "hot phone" and make/receive calls. If the line is in use, your...

    ALERT Grandstream UCM6100 PBX

OK, so I attended their webinar this morning on the product. Here's my synopsis... It was mainly marketing with a little bit of technical fruit thrown in. I wrote down some things from the Q&A section that I thought may be of help or interest to others: Another note is that all models can...

    SUGGESTIONS Codec configuration - quality/reliability

I don't think it's optimal, IMHO. I'd just keep it ulaw the entire way for simplicity. If there are any problems internally with asterisk transcoding the session, it may be more difficult to troubleshoot.

    SUGGESTIONS Codec configuration - quality/reliability

Not sure, but then again I am definitely no expert. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

TIPS Endpoint Manager & Remote phones

I suggest just using NeoRouter to keep it fast and easy. Use the following article to get up to speed quickly: http://nerdvittles.com/?p=6725

TIPS Endpoint Manager & Remote phones

I wouldn't suggest that because it would involve opening ports on the firewall directly to the phone and that is a security risk... Consider setting up a VPN and pushing the configs to the phones via the VPN instead, as it's much more secure.

    SUGGESTIONS Codec configuration - quality/reliability

I vote ulaw since it's the de-facto standard across the board these days with both providers, endpoints and everything in between. Previously, alaw used to be primarily destined for European use and ulaw was for North America. These days it doesn't matter...

    SUGGESTIONS Codec configuration - quality/reliability
