QUESTION Asteridex's initial call to ext "anonymous"

Can this be changed to something else, or masquerade as a non-existant extension? I have a customer using Snom phones, and they want the Asteridex initial call to be silent or another ringtone. I can do this if I can change the initial call to the phone to something other than Anonymous, which...

TIPS Inbound calling over SIP trunks

Thanks for the info; very interesting. What's the ideal then? Forward 5060 (only) from the router to the PBX, and then use IPtables to limit access to just the provider's IP?

TIPS Inbound calling over SIP trunks

Thanks for all the comments. Since adding qualify=yes, we've not had any reported issues. Just goes to show how a single omitted line can make a huge difference. We can port forward in future if needs be, and limit access to just the provider's IP ranges, as suggested, but I don't see any need...

TIPS Inbound calling over SIP trunks

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. There doesn't seem to be a pattern. CPU rarely goes above 2%. I'll check to see if the trunk provider has any info. Switch and router are dedicated to VoIP so there's no otherthing else to get in the way and there's plenty of bandwidth. I haven't...

TIPS Inbound calling over SIP trunks

We're having a slight issue where certain calls are not getting through to our PBX. We're using SIP trunks with two different providers and a Cisco RV320 router. Calls via both providers show this intermittent behaviour only on some inbound calls, which is complete silence on the line, and then...

QUESTION Using two Ethernet ports and subnets with PIAF.

I might not have explained it very well. It's not the box talking to the phones that's the issue, it's which internet connection the box uses for SIP trunk registrations. With the two network ports connected on the asterisk box, it is on both the .1 .0 and .2.0 subnets, and can use the .1.1...

QUESTION Using two Ethernet ports and subnets with PIAF.

This is probably very simple, but I can't figure it out so need some quick help. I have my PCs etc on one subnet (192.168.1.0), which use the main router for web, email, VPN etc (192.168.1.1). I have my phones and PIAF box on another subnet (192.168.2.0) using a router dedicated to VoIP...

SOLVED DND status on BLF with Snom 720s

Looks like I've sorted it. Your pointer towards looking at hints, and me realising device & user mode might be messing things up, I did a bit of Googling on "device and user mode dnd blf", found this thread, which suggested turning on Enable Custom Device States in Advanced Settings. Default...

SOLVED DND status on BLF with Snom 720s

*78? *78202 or 203 comes back "not found".

SOLVED DND status on BLF with Snom 720s

Thanks for the quick reply. State shows "Idle" for extension 203 (the one on DND and being monitored by a blf on 202). I'm using device and user mode, so would that have an effect? The test devices are 702 & 703 respectively.

SOLVED DND status on BLF with Snom 720s

Anyone using Snom desk phones with PIAF? I'm the process of upgrading our aging PIAF box, and one of the things I was looking forward to, was BLF for extensions showing as "busy" when the monitored extension is DND. "Success!" I thought, when first testing it, as the busy lamp came on when I...

    QUESTION Obi110 - UK settings

Thanks. I think I'll pick one up and have a play with it to see if it's suitable. It's not like it's all that expensive. I think I've found another post that lists correct UK settings for it too.

    QUESTION Obi110 - UK settings

Looking to replace our ageing PIAF system on a Atom box, with a Pi version. Currently have a Digium card in the Atom, but we're down to just one analogue line now, and it obviously won't work with the Pi anyway. The Obi110 looks interesting, but I'm concerned I'll not be able to set it up...

    HP's New Microservers $349

These have £100 cashback on them again, making them a steal for a small system. If my maths is right, you can pick it up for an effective £87.49 ex VAT (after the cashback). Oh, and you can get up to a further 3% cashback via Quidco too. For cards, you need half length, half height PCI-E. I've...

Aastra 6730i - Goodbye key funtionality.

Our trusty old 9133i and 9143i phones have the option to alter the behaviour of the goodbye key, so that it cancels the current call rather than any incoming call when a 2nd call comes in. Although the same functionality is mentioned in the 6730i user guide, including changing it in the config...

    HP's New Microservers $349

In the UK, these are currently on offer for £134.88 (ex VAT) after £100 cashback. HERE Anyone built a PIAF/Asterisk box out of one yet? Only issue that springs to mind is the expansion slots look like they're half height. And they're PCI-E. Think I would have preferred an Intel chip, but does...

Constant SIP activity on 2 remote extensions (VPN'd)

Hi Guys, Could someone try and point me in the right direction on this one? I haven't got a clue what's going on or how to sort it. If I do a SIP debug, I get a constant stream of the following. 3 local extensions and 1 remote extension via VPN are OK, but these 2 are going mental for some...

    Lots of calls from "asterisk"

Thanks Joe, So I need to make sure I have an inbound route for all my phone numbers, and then set the AnyDID/AnyCID to "Terminate"? At the moment, DDIs are pointing at individual phones, and the AnyDID setting is for all the numbers that ring all the phones.

    Lots of calls from "asterisk"

Just started happening. System's been stable for ages. Seems to come from different IPs. Don't understand "Received incoming SIP connection from unknown peer to 010442073479999" in below sample log entry: [2010-09-02 16:17:50] VERBOSE[3353] logger.c: -- Executing...
