It took me 2 weeks to go over many details of understanding PBX solutions. Got a Vitelity trunk from nerds' links and installed 3CX [via form on this site] on Digital Ocean droplet. Free PBX edition running great. Question: how do i proceed to upgrade to PRO? 3CX has a list of re-sellers, but all i'm looking for is way to upgrade free license to paid. Why are they making it so complicated? Are you on that list?

You might see it differently because we do not sell direct. We sell via a network of partners and resellers.
Still you need to go to the manufacturers website when you buy a software and check things out from there.

Go to 3CX.com, Click "Buy", and "pricing"
You will get here https://www.3cx.com/ordering/pricing/

Then see the lic size you want. and on the right instead of a paypal or visa link you will get "Find a Partner" and proceed from there.
Also you can request a quote - https://www.3cx.com/phone-system/download-phone-system/?src=voipinfo

Thanks for your prompt response, Nicky. While every company has its own way to market and sell its products, I find it very bizarre to have to research a large list of certified specialists after all research, self-education, installation, testing is done by myself with the help of this forum and 3cx forum. Who are those people? Selection is overwhelming. Will i have to deal with that person/company for all other support, do they charge extra for service? Why is this forum then? I'm confused. All i want to do is to pay money to upgrade the license.

It is not bizarre at all. It happens that the United States of America is quite big last I checked.
How can we restrict to one reseller? And how can one company cover the biggest market in the world?
If I were you, I would choose one that is in my own state. So filter the ones in your state, and from those make a research.

This forum is for tech support mainly. You should never get sales feedback from a forum.

Example: If you had to buy for example polycom phones (Just to mention a giant in your own country) NO WAY you can buy them directly from polycom. You need to go through a procedure and select a reseller.

What I mean to say is that it is not as foreign concept. In business terms it actually helps the company expand faster because we inherit the reseller's network channels.

This might even be a good fit for an automated license upgrade process.

Just a suggestion...... Resellers come and go and many DIY people don't like dealing with anyone but the source. Within this community even the idea of 'key' based licensing is not popular so having to give information to and deal with a third party is not preferred. I understand you have a business model that works for you but I think as you attract new audiences, like this one, you may want to consider offering some new options.

The easy fix for this is for you to offer and option of upgrading directly through you giving financial credit to the reseller(s) in the purchasers area. Many companies do that for things like licensing vs. a physical product like a phone.

As a new 3cx Reseller and a very long time PBiaF user, Brian nailed it.

If you look at the market in terms of segments, there is a segment that has the Voip company selling to a company and they have a relationship. That end user will look first and foremost at the reseller for support and all issues. They will rarely, if ever want to deal with the manufacturer.

This segment that 3cx is entering now is a little different. This segment has historically rolled up their sleeves and built out the system the way they want. They go to the forums when they need support, but on the whole they tend to be very self sufficient. They tend to avoid resellers because they will buy from Amazon or some other voip supplier for the products. This group though when you get beyond the limitations of the free version are potential new customers for you that will buy a license. A method to sell to them other than through resellers may be best for the expansion of 3cx.

Now, this is strictly my 2 cents and it is worth what you are paying for it. A potential solution that I think would make all the users here happy is for a 'code' that the users here could buy directly from 3cx. This code when put into the 3cx system would give the commission to PBiaF. That code though would offer NO support other than through here on the PBiaF forums. This way the user can choose to support PBiaF or find a local reseller that they can get support from.

Nick, how about some love to us geeks. I would buy a paid license with no support. I just want it for home use and the commercial versions seems a bit much for us hobby tinkerers.

Would make us much more likely to recommend to our customers.

Hi Prattmd!

Absolutely, we want to - we want to help you :) How about a program that gets you free licenses in return for being active on this community? Would something like that work? I.e. we put a fair number on the number of posts you made or will make and we give you a free license, including support?

Works for me! That is generous and sounds like win win for all. Most people here would be awesome beta testers and be able to get you some great feedback.

How do I sign up.

Thanks for much!

A program will be announced for this. Basically we will review contributions at the end of each quarter and reward frequent posters....

I'm not sure how many forum users put in PBX systems for profit, but I would guess it's a pretty good percentage. In the same vein as prattmd2's idea, I was thinking of an OEM version, say for half price, with full functionality, but no manufacturer support. All support falls on to the OEM (that would be us). Or, maybe make it an NFR (Not For Resale). Either way, I believe the key to success with the folks here is to get 3CX in the hands of us for cheap, because once we use it and understand it we will recommend retail versions to our customers :)

If I'm not mistaken, you can sign up as a reseller now and get an NFR license at no cost.

Exactly, as Ward said - 3CX partners get free NFRs, free Training, free Support, free Certification. No commitments. So there is really nothing to stop you signing up as a 3CX partner....

however, for users who plan to be active on the forum, and just want an install in their small office or home office, we are happy to work with them to get a free license .... This is a program we are going to setup soon, give us the holidays and we will do something in January :)

Can't wait to hear about this. My thoughts echo right along with everyone else who has posted. I'd rather figure things out myself and come here for support. I like to run the latest, but only at home so many of the licenses I see out there are overkill for home use.

One exception to that rule has been Sophos' home user program. They give home users a full corporate license for their firewall software for free, included support (but not "expanded support" whatever that is). They even have a program for their anti-virus software that you manage on PCs through their website. They have become quite home-user friendly. And in full disclosure, I do not work for them, but have been using their UTM and now XG firewall systems for a few years now.

Yo, received the license key email. After submitting the form it threw this error: "Invalid Token or Email Used"

I tried with an alternate email and in private mode.

Ok, no real problem after all. The signup form wanted me to use the same email address as the one on which I received the free offer

(thanks for the tip, little birdy)

Apologies for reviving a dead thread, but I still think this is a legitimate question. I missed the (non-pbx) free trial that was given out on this forum, and I just want to buy a standard license but I haven't found a 3cx partner that clearly sells one for the price advertised on 3cx's site. I've gone through probably 10 different partner sites looking for how to purchase a license, and most do not (as far as I've seen) have a clear option for just purchasing a license, and those that do are significantly inflated.

Does anyone have suggestions?

Hi , Sorry to hear that. First of all we can resend you the one year license free of charge, can you send me your email email in a private message? Also i would like to hear which resellers you contacted... So that we can improve the process.
