Hugh upgrade to the rasberry pi platform.

Now available with

New upgraded CPU Broadcom BCM2711, Quad core Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.5GHz
2x Micro HDMI ports (large HDMI port gone)
True Gigabit Ethernet (USB Ethernet gone)
Choice or RAM 1GB, 2GB or 4GB
USB-C Power supply connector (old power supply connector replaced)

It looks like the power requirements have gone up as well.

The base board is still $35 US with the 1GB memory.

2GB and 4GB are $45 and $55 respectively.

Problem for us is it is Raspbian Buster only, older releases won't work and there are no plans to update, much like when the 3B+ came out - only worse because it's a big difference in the HW this time.

There seems to be some doubt if a kernel only upgrade like we did before will get an older Jessie/Stretch userland to boot like the 3B+ did. But I checked it out a few hours ago, everything may have changed already.

Picked up a 2GB unit at Micro Center this morning. No immediate plans for PBX use, but if anyone wants me to try something (that can be done headless), just ask.

I'm trying to put together a script that would let you run Asterisk natively after importing your FreePBX setup from another machine. That should alleviate the need for MySQL, Apache, and FreePBX with a little luck.

My RasPi4 should be here by the first of the week so I'll keep you posted.

Another option I thought about - a chroot into a Jessie image should work. I have more pressing non-pbx thoughts for the board, but may do some testing if I get a minute.

So it looks like the FreePBX-free option will work for the time being. Just tested on CentOS, and it works like a champ. And, once you have a stable PBX platform, the need for the GUI is greatly diminished. You can always make changes on your original (master) platform and then clone it again. Anybody that's ever had an aquarium knows the advantage of having two so you have a place to quarantine new fish. This would work in much the same way using your old Raspi 3 as the holding tank for your FreePBX setup and changes. It also would provide a hot standby.
Now for the hard part: the documentation. :chef:

Good luck, I'm going to stick with my vps yet, and use my pi 4's for other projects.

After cogitating about the RasPi 4 a bit more and appreciating that there still are some gaping holes in Debian 10 when it comes to FreePBX deployment (FreePBX won't install plus no ODBC or Pico TTS support... again), here's what we've decided to do. Next week, we will release Incredible PBX LITE which provides the first ever, totally turnkey PBX. Five extensions and four SIP trunks are preconfigured with Asterisk. So, as soon as you install LITE on any model Raspberry Pi and sign up with one of the four SIP providers, you can start making and receiving calls with up to five SIP phones. SIP providers include Skyetel, VoIP.ms, V1VoIP, and Anveo Direct. No SIP registrations or configuration required on the RasPi platform.

Incoming calls to your DIDs ring all 5 extensions. Outgoing calls will be processed by whichever SIP provider you sign up with. No FreePBX GUI, MySQL, or Apache is required. Performance is spectacular. Most Incredible PBX apps including reminders, today in history, news, and weather forecasts plus voicemail, conferencing, music on hold, IVR, and most of the rest of the FreePBX 13 feature set are installed and ready to go. It's literally plug-and-play.

We're putting the finishing touches on the RasPi image and will upload it to SourceForge soon. CentOS and Ubuntu versions will also be available within a week or two. Once something is available to play with, we'll post an update here.

Incredible PBX LITE with Raspbian 10 (1.6GB) is now available on SourceForge. Works with any Raspberry Pi version including RasPi 4B. Tutorial coming tomorrow with a little luck.

What a change, I'll be watching:eek: for info on the centos version.

We're averaging about 100 visitors an hour since 2 a.m. so there would appear to be some interest in such a platform.

What you may find interesting is that the Raspbian 10 setup was actually built from an Incredible PBX LITE image running under CentOS. So the other beauty of this design is it's platform agnostic. Should also run fine under any version of Ubuntu or Debian as long as Asterisk 13 will load. If it'll run on Raspbian 10, the other platforms should be a walk in the park.
And I'm about to test Asterisk 15 just for grins. :arabia:

I assume you guys mean freepbx 15, not asterisk 15, which should not be used (asterisk 15 was the development branch that led to LTS release 16).

FreePBX 15 and php 7.3 as found in buster suffers hugely from

Installing PHP 7.0, until FreePBX is updated for 7.3, is trivial. RonR has done the integration: https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r30661088-PBX-FreePBX-for-the-Raspberry-Pi (see end of the thread for confirmation)

Unfortunately that patch only gets you through the installer and the basic operation of FreePBX. There are other modules that have the same bug and need to be updated too. I'd honestly just stick with 7.0 for now. :)
