received call from 0011534212605 which seems clearly a NANP country code though area code leading with a 1 is a no-no. Any ideas on an easy mod to block such non-conforming number formats?

Without any thing fancy, do a web-search on:
Inbound route / wildcard numbers
Routing calls based on the caller ID number

Yeah, and route anything that doesn't have a local area code to Lenny.

No not that drastic, as even uk ye could possibly also get included. But yes will filter on inbound. Just rather would like the Iblacklist app to also do a bit of wildcards?

I agree that the blacklist is a little inflexible. If I'm not mistaken, Blacklist is a FreePBX module and they would need a ticket submitted to them for a eventual or possible change.

Blacklist is open-sourced .... so ... if you don't like it ... change it.

I did a little google search for those interested to see if someone hasn't already accomplished the task, and found a very good read HERE with some answers.

I just looked at one of my PBX where I had a similar request, that I thought is worth sharing. Client was getting a bunch of garbage solicitation calls all from the same range of numbers, but they would change them by one digit and thereby bypass the blacklist when someone would blacklist the prior garbage call.

These calls all came from 1201205xxxx ... so all we did is add an inbound route called "Robo Lenny" - we then put in the DID that they came in on, and for callerID we used wildcard:

_201205.

Then we placed the destination as Lenny (Or terminate call or whatever you want) and the problem was solved.
