Yeah not sure I need a VPN just wanted to be secure. I also was hoping to be able to set up softphones on our staffs cell phones but as they have dynamic IPs I'm not sure how to allow them through on to the whitelist

I keep getting permission denied to my request to view /root/knock.FAQ
I'm suspecting that my IP somehow was blocked and I'm not sure how to gain access... @wardmundy any idea how I can gain access? Thanks in advance

Thanks for the offer may take you up on it when I get some time at a normal hour :)

IncrediblePBX is like fort knox, but the remote users , well I have the same issue, opening 5060 and 4329 (SIP and IAX2) ports blows a wide hole in the vault door, that is what Port Knocker is for, but I havn't figured how to do that with a cell phone where the IP cahnges faster than you change underwear. So I am stuck myself here. and by normal hour: I am usually up until 23:00 Eastern US nightly.

Does google block caller ID spoofing?
Do you know how incredible pbx locks down? I'm trying to access the port knocker file and I'm blocked out...

Google does not allow ANY number but your GVSIP number out its trung, It's whay I won'yt use it, I want my Main number out my trunks, google won't let me so google doesn't get used for outbound calls, only inbound for specific purposes.

Incredible locks down on IP addresses (through iptables and iptables-custom [this is where most of the rules reside now, and where add-ip and add-fqdn puts the entries] )

As for PortKnoker, there is a file in /root called knock.faq (or very similar) where it is a text document that will show how to use knockd. Port Knocker is an app on my android phone where I put in my server name, and the three numbers (in order) shown in that file. I find this useless as I want an app on my cell phone but the IPs on a cell network are not static to you phone, so as you move around towers the IP changes and again you get locked out every so often that it gets annoying , so useless. I am no programmer and Incredible is Free so I really cannot complain, but a more useful filtering (weather to replace or augment the IP tables) is a MACTables where many of the devices can be entered as MAC addresses and thence a Cell phones Wireless or cell antenna you could enter the MACTables and then never have it be disconnected as you move around -- even phones and computers have the MAC addresses that never change. I know a MAC can be spoofed (my router can do it) but it's a thought.

So I used chmod to avoid the permission denied reply for knock.FAQ and now I get this:
/root/knock.FAQ: line 1: Knock: command not found
/root/knock.FAQ: line 2: To: command not found
/root/knock.FAQ: line 3: nmap: command not found
/root/knock.FAQ: line 4: Or: command not found
I'm not even remotely a programmer but this clearly isn't what I was hoping for
Any insight anyone?

Thanks

It's a text file, not a script to be run. Just type: cat /root/knock.FAQ

So I set up a gvsip trunk and a voip.ms trunk, what is the best way to move our old verizon number over? Port it into google? voip.ms? another option?
Also how do I best utilize the gvsip trunk if I can't use it with our legacy number?

Thanks everyone for the consistent help!

You would need to create a port order

Log into your voip.ms account. Go to DID Numbers | DID Portability

There is a button there to start the process. Normally this is a process that takes 60 to 90 days.

As far as your GVSIP trunk. It is good to have alternate path out of the PBX in the event something goes wrong with your connection to your primary.

DDL you missed the point -- Google forces its number as the caller ID (he doesn't want that , he wants his 'real' number displayed), so my suggestion is port the number into Google, this way the calls are free and with Voip.ms you can put whatever you want on the trunk caller ID so it looks like your 'real' number so what you would do is use the voip.ms as primary (displaying you Google number (if you ported it over) and if Voip.MS fails, (which I have not seen in years, at least for me), the the GVSIP would take over which forces the number anyways.

Good Luck.

Hey everyone- I created a extension 0 for the receptionist, and recently the secret field in the incredible pbx disappeared and therefore since there is none I can't register a phone to that extension. Additionally I had linked it to the user office and it keeps disassociating itself from it... Any idea what's going on here? @wardmundy

Thanks in advance!
