Same question here.

After the first free year, do we have to send $350 to 3CX each year?

Can we continue to operate the system (without updates or support) without paying the annual fee or does the system stop working if we do not thereafter pay the annual fee?

To clarify/confirm: this is the Standard edition from the comparison here? And the license is a 12-month "subscription"-type license? That is a pretty generous offer, basically a one-year trial of the paid edition. But it will need to be paid after a year (unless they extend the offer).

For comparison purposes, how does the license on the 8SC Free edition work? Is it perpetual, i.e. no expiration? I seem to recall that the Let's Encrypt certificate would only auto-renew for a year. Can one convert to a certificate from a public Certification Authority?

actually looking at the comparison chat, the feature set is more like the free edition with fax capability added

Assuming it's the Standard commercial edition, another feature that is important to some people is support for multiple SIP trunks. The Free edition only supports one trunk.

Users and vendors coming from the PiaF / Asterisk world are used to free, perpetually-licensed software. By contrast, 3CX only works if it passes the check-in on their licensing server. They can disable a license at any time. Hence my interest in clarifying license duration for the different editions.
