SOLVED Upgrade to ubuntu server breaks

It seems that whenever I upgrade my ubuntu server running IncrediblePBX I have issues with mysql and ssh not completing and subsequently hanging on each apt-get update/upgrade. Current version Ubuntu 14.04.3

I end up with something like

Setting up mysql-server-5.5 (5.5.47-0ubuntu0.14.04.1) ...

And nothing happens. Is there something I need to be doing when upgrading that I'm not and therefore causing the issue myself?

In the /var/log/dpkg.log I am also seeing stuff like

@ozmule I will fire up an ubuntu instance and see if I can recreate the issue you are facing, is this a virtual or physical server, what are the specs, and how long ago did you install ipbx on it?

Ok, this is running on ESXi (v6.0) and it is a pretty recent install (approx 24 Dec 2015). Specs on VM as follows:

• 1024mb ram
• I upped the sockets to 2 with 4 cores (made no difference)
• 20 GB HDD

The following post indicates it might actually be a bug with package openssh-server. I have the same issues with it and the same with mysql

I have tried a good number of times, even restored a version back from 17 Jan 2016, same result each time. I did also try stopping ssh, mysql, and amportal but same result.

If there is something else I can provide let me know.

I can confirm the solution posted in the link to the issue above has worked for me.
