I really, really hate telemarketers. Now the sleazebags are using systems that sound like humans...to a point.
First their human-sounding robocaller talked to Lenny for a long time and then transferred to a live person who talked to Lenny for almost 6 minutes before being disconnected. This is the longest call to Lenny I've ever had.

As NC has a "one-party consent" law I'm left wondering if recording this is allowed in NC.

Isn't there some sort of incapability of both parties to negotiate, or to advance the necessary one party permission.
Although if asked, Lenny would quite freely say 'yes yes yearss'; but may lack the legal capacity to act.
Oh come to that is the caller both competent and capable of authorising permission, given the absence of any AI or of a capacity to be responsible for damages accruing.

Additionally how does that go down with the supervisor or the trainer or anyone that is passed the phone half way through.

As the present call was from the NC Troopers Association, it may well be worth donating, if harassment is to be avoided ; strike that the damage already done. How is Lenny going to get his damages, and is the Association sufficiently solvent.

Then again - it must be worth a donation just for the entertainment value.

If you own the server platform and provided the connection to and design of your Lenny application, then you are a "party to the conversation" IMHO. By definition, you have provided consent to record the conversation because you set Lenny up that way. In one-party consent states, there is no requirement that you to tell the other party that you are consenting to record your own phone call. Any other interpretation would mean that every telephone answering machine ever deployed was illegal.
