I've been experimenting with IncrediblePBX 11 on Ubuntu 14.04 using this tutorial:
http://nerdvittles.com/?p=9713

Everything appears to be working great except I can't load the call event logs from the CDR Report. Here is what I expect to happen (based on what happens using my pogo install)

  1. I click CDR Reports
  2. I enter my search criteria
  3. I click one of the unique identifier hyperlinks under the "System" column
  4. I expect to see a Call Event log
On my Pogo install, this works properly. On my IncrediblePBX Ubuntu Install, clicking the hyperlink just returns me to the CDR Report search criteria.
So far I've tried:
  1. Fresh install of Ubuntu Server 14.04 Minimal on a dedicated (old) laptop (32-bit) + IncrediblePBX 11 using the tutorial linked above (http://nerdvittles.com/?p=9713)
  2. Fresh install of Ubuntu Server 14.04 minimal in an Oracle Virtualbox (64-bit) + IncrediblePBX 11 using the tutorial linked above (http://nerdvittles.com/?p=9713)
  3. Using the PBX update wizard to update from FreePBX 11 to 12
  4. I also tried a fresh install of Ubuntu Server 14.04 minimal in an Oracle Virtualbox (64-bit) + IncrediblePBX 12 using this tutorial: http://nerdvittles.com/?p=11041
None of this seems to work - no matter what I do I can't get the call event log to show.
My questions are:
  1. Any pointers? My next step is to try CentOS, but before I continue down this rabbit hole I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on how to get this working reliably on Ubuntu.
  2. If I were to change platforms and go with the Beaglebone Black following this tutorial: http://nerdvittles.com/?p=8222 could I expect the CDR -> Call Event log to work as it does on my pogo?
Thanks in advance!

... Couldn't resist the urge and ordered a Beaglebone Black. For something that is supposed to SAVE money (e.g: voip) it sure can turn into an expensive hobby for people that just like to tinker with gadgets :whistling:

On the Pi, the CDR file is stored in \var\log\asterisk\cdr-csv as Master.csv. You may be able to see the results there. I'd also try a basic search (e.g., default settings) & see the result. In my experience a blank page results when the system thinks none of the call records meet your search criteria. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip John, it does appear the info is in the master.csv file however I'm more interested in making it visible through the CDR.

This is a complicated topic (for me at least) and I realize that I may have not explained this as clearly as I should have so I thought I'd include some images. I should mention that between the time of my original post I have taken the following additional steps
  1. Tried prebuilt Ubuntu + IncrediblePBX 11/12 images for VirtualBox
  2. Tried a prebuilt Scientific Linux + IncrediblePBX 11 image for VirtualBox
  3. Purchased and configured a BeagleBone Black
In each case, the CEL data associated with calls fails to load. The only exception is the Pogoplug where it works perfectly fine.
Here is a visual walk through of what I am referring to.
On my PogoPlug PBX I follow these steps
  1. Login through FreePBX
  2. Click "Reports" -> CDR Reports
  3. Enter my search criteria, example: Destination = 411 as seen in this image: http://take.ms/QwB5S
  4. Press "Search"
  5. View the call log as seen in this image and click the ID marked with a red arrow: http://take.ms/xPE6M
  6. The result is that I see a detailed call log as seen in this image (I've removed names, but otherwise the image is unaltered): http://take.ms/C0ZfH
Following the exact same steps on my new BeagleBone Black (or also Ubuntu/Centos as documented above) the results are as follows
  1. Login through FreePBX
  2. Click "Reports" -> CDR Reports
  3. Enter my search criteria, example: Destination = 411 as seen in this image: http://take.ms/RkFRH
  4. Press "Search"
  5. View the call log as seen in this image and click the ID marked with a red arrow: http://take.ms/AX4ui
  6. The result is (which is the only difference from the previous set of steps) is that I am returned to the CDR search screen. No Call Event Log is presented: http://take.ms/Txvpq
I suspect that this is either a bug in the version of FreePBX / Asterisk / IncrediblePBX that I am using or that this feature was intentionally never implemented in versions other than the pogo plug installer?

I did find a setting under Settings -> Advanced Settings called "Enable CEL Reporting" and I can confirm that this setting is ON for both the BeagleBone and PogoPlug.

Any thoughts? Or, can anyone check their install and report back? At this point I'd take comfort in the fact that I'm not (totally) insane

Thanks John for taking look! I take comfort in the fact that its not just me who's seeing this since it means I'm (probably) not just doing something wrong.

I find the CEL to be a valuable tool since it helps me validate that my outgoing calls are being routed through the correct trunk and lets me troubleshoot incoming routes as well. Hopefully Ward and his team can take a look at this and offer a possible solution or workaround in a future release!
