The problem is that we can't log in to Avantfax (and faxes don't seem to be forwarded as emails to the intended recipient.

Avantfax gui returns this:

system-important.png
The AvantFAX database is DOWN. Check your database settings in local_config.php.

I have googled the problem and it seems correctable, but I don't quite have enough breadcrumbs to actually fix the problem.

Is there a step by step guide somewhere that will fix the issue?

I would prefer not to rip down the system and start again.

Thank you so much for your help.

Sorry to bump my own thread.

I know this is fixable; there is a thread which states to do:

Use phpmyadmin and create the avantfax user with password; d58fe49 and grant all privileges to the avantfax db

Unfortunately, I don't see phpmyadmin available in webmin or anywhere else, and I'm not sure how to set privileges, etc. (since I'm unfamiliar with the program).

Since they have already integrated CRM functions into the RentPBX site, starting from scratch is less and less of an option.

Any help at all?

Try accessing phpmyadmin directly at <your server ip>/admin/config.php?display=phpmyadmin

PatPend,

That worked - I can get to the phpmyadmin gui.

Unfortunately, there is already an avantfax user.

Can anyone confirm/deny/support that I should edit the users privileges and password as per the info above?

Well,

I changed the password and rights and rebooted - still no joy.

Can I uninstall incrediblefax and reinstall?

Are you changing an Avantfax user or a MYSQL user? My guess it that you need to grant access in MYSQL to allow a connection from Avantfax.

in MyPHPAdmin there is a tab named 'Privileges' which lists all the users and (obviously) privileges. I changed the avantfax user here - password and all privileges.

The SQL tab allows for queries to be run.

So, my question is, how do I implement your answer?

Is it safe to re-run the incredible fax installer? I'd really like to get faxing working so my friend's machine can be fully utilized.
