Security For PBXIAF Hosted In a Datacenter

If you installed PIAF - there should already be built in security via iptables and fail2ban In SSH type: service iptables status and service fail2ban status Let's see if these are running. If they are - you should be set, but if you post the results I can tell you for sure.

    Installing older version of FreePBX

Don't quote me on this one but I think you can follow these 'upgrade' instructions except change the numbers to 2.7 and let it overwrite the current freepbx installation. I remember trying it once or twice and it worked - probably needed a few tweaks through because some modules were broken...

    grnvoip experience?

Net2Phone is for wholesale, only. You need to be passing a ton of minutes for you to be eligible to become a customer. For the meantime stick with grnvoip.

    grnvoip experience?

I am now passing 100,000+ minutes so I moved on to Net2Phone which is even cheaper, as long as sufficient amount of minutes are being passed. I was only terminating calls with GRN Voip to Trinidad & Tobago at one point until they raised the price on me. Up until they raised the price a few...

    Port 400 DIDs Cheap

For 400 dids you definitely need a wholesale provider. Contact VoIP Innovations and tell them you have 400 ports to start with. I am sure they will grant you an inexpensive porting method. Just be sure to run the interop test just to make sure that you are comfortable with a wholesale carrier...

    Are Fonality numbers portable?

They should definitely be portable. Just call them up and ask them to release your numbers that you would like to port out. By law they are not allowed to stop the port outs as long as the accounts are in the "active" state.

    General hosting questions

How reliable are hosted solutions? Does a higher monthly cost equal higher reliability? -- Pretty reliable depending where you host it. In regards to cost, not necessarily. Rackspace Cloud is a huge company and my hosting bill for Asterisk & FreePBX comes out to about $13 per month. They...

    PIAF a2billing INFO??

Please PM me for something like that You can set up a2billing so that users can interconnect via SIP, or in your case, other PBXs to interconnect with yours. From there they can do what they want with the caller ID.

    PIAF a2billing INFO??

How is your client PBX interconnecting with your PBX?
  11. J

    PIAF a2billing INFO??

Under each extension, there is an "outbound caller ID" field. Set the caller ID one by one for each extension. For the a2billing trunk, leave the caller ID field empty. Because you are passing multiple sets of CIDs you need to define a caller ID per the extension, one by one.

    PIAF a2billing INFO??

Ok I understand now Are you using "accountcode" and do you have the outbound caller ID defined for each extension individually?
  13. J

    PIAF a2billing INFO??

Put that aside for now All you need to do is create one customer for every different user that you bill. No matter what Caller ID they pass, a2billing will bill according to the customer, not according to the Caller ID, which is actually much better. Let's say you have extensions 201, 202...

    PIAF a2billing INFO??

a2billing can authenticate without caller ID if set up properly You need to install a2billing, understand how it works, and then use the "accountcode" field in FreePBX so associate each extension with an account number, for billing purposes. Check out the a2billing forums at...

What is required to provide DIDs?

Try researching with whatever Canada calls the "FCC". Might not be cheap but you should be able to become a CLEC and get a block of phone numbers with your desired area code. Not too easy to become a CLEC directly through the fcc because then other providers need to interconnect with you to pass...

PBX In A Flash on Rackspace Cloud

Best way is to build Asterisk and FreePBX from scratch and only install core components. With 4 concurrent calls I have no issues with FOP running in the background of a 256 mb ram server.

how do i use the cli to monitor just 1 extension and ignore the rest?

I dont remember nor can I find the article but as long as you have logging turned on in /etc/asterisk/logger.conf (by default it is on in a new PIAF install), you should be able to do a grep to /var/log/asterisk/full. I forgot the exact command but it is used with grep and I saw it in the...

    DLink DGL-4500

Hey all Just want an input on whether or not this router will do a good job prioritizing voip packets both ways (in and out) on an internet connection under 1 mbps. Will need to prioritize 2 devices. Never had any luck with QoS, ever. I am really hoping this one will work, if configured...
