NO JOY Got SIP response 480 "CONGESTION" back from XX.XXX.XXX.XXX

Thanks for responding. Just getting back to this one.... I'd seen a few reference to that, but I think the HANGUPCAUSE may be misleading. I tested different conditions with several phones. Let it ring unanswered until it timed out, rang the line when busy, called when the receiving phone was...

TIPS How is Follow Me *supposed* to behave with external PTSN lines and multiple calls?

Yeah, I think you're right. Most behaved as I expected, which points to a phone/carrier issue. Thanks again for the sanity check.

TIPS How is Follow Me *supposed* to behave with external PTSN lines and multiple calls?

Thanks for the response. Ok, let me try it with a few other phones. So far it's happened w/at least 2 phones, which made me wonder if it wasn't something more than the individual phone/carrier.

TIPS How is Follow Me *supposed* to behave with external PTSN lines and multiple calls?

I'm using virtual extensions and "Follow me" to forward incoming calls to a person's cell phone number when they are on the road, using Local channels. I'm seeing some odd behavior with concurrent calls and wanted to clarify my expectations. * Say "John" receives an incoming call. "Follow me"...

NO JOY Got SIP response 480 "CONGESTION" back from XX.XXX.XXX.XXX

Got SIP response 480 "CONGESTION" back from XX.XXX.XXX.XXX I was going to post this over at freepbx.org first, but its captcha and my browsers aren't playing well together today ;-) I'm using FreePBX 2.11.0.30 and am bridging two external calls together using Local channels, like a...

SUGGESTIONS How to troubleshoot call quality issues

I am new to Asterisk and have a plain vanilla install of PIAF 3.6.5 and have noticed some sporadic issues will call quality. Most of the calls are bridged (think click to call). A good chunk of calls are fine, but others are choppy or have some slight static. Can anyone suggest how to begin...

    NO JOY Munin Install Errors

I'm running PIAF 2.0.6.4 / 32bit (under VirtualBox) and ran into some errors trying to install munin (similar to this thread). I tried the two suggestions mentioned: yum clean all ... checked /etc/yum.repos.d/piafrepo and under piaf6 "enabled" was already set to 1 FYI: In the interests of...

SOLVED Need help with odbc problem

So you got it to work without recompiling Asterisk? I had similar problems setting up odbc (isql query works fine) and am wondering what I did wrong. Mind if I ask which files you updated and the "good" settings used?

    TIPS Music on Hold

The connection was done via a bridge, using AMI + Originate and Local channels. The land line does have CW, so maybe I hit the receiver and that activated MusicOnHold? I'll have to run some more tests to see if that's what happened.

    TIPS Music on Hold

Hm... The call was between a cell phone and an old land line handset. The latter is the one I put on mute (it doesn't have hold button) So how does Music on Hold work? Searching didn't turn up any high level overview, just specific stuff like sound file locations, functions, etc..

SOLVED Need help with odbc problem

Ok, I'll wait for a clarification on that. So did older versions of PIAF have ODBC installed? ie out of the box

    TIPS Music on Hold

I recently discovered the music on hold feature accidentally, while testing a separate problem. Basically, I'd bridged two lines (A and B) together, then put one of the lines on mute, and left them connected. When I came back, they were still connected, but ... some sort of hold music was...

SOLVED Need help with odbc problem

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I'm trying to do the exact same thing. I'd come across that article in my searches. Since I'm brand new to PIAF I wasn't sure exactly what was meant by this comment: Does it mean PIAF updates will not work at all, that they might overwrite the ODBC...

TRY THIS What's the simplest way to query a database from within Dialplan?

Makes sense. I'll have to see if it's a good fit for this task. Thanks again for the quick response!

TRY THIS What's the simplest way to query a database from within Dialplan?

BTW, have you ever used ODBC? I tried setting it up last week but didn't have any luck. Not sure if I need to install something extra ... ?

TRY THIS What's the simplest way to query a database from within Dialplan?

Thank you! That worked perfectly. Apparently I can't see the forest for the trees on Friday ;-) I'd heard about using the Asterisk db, but wasn't sure if it'd be a good fit for my task or not. How do you access it - with the DB() command? It is only for storing key + prop pairs ?

TRY THIS What's the simplest way to query a database from within Dialplan?

I'd like store a few values in a local database (mySQL) when calls are dialed. Nothing complex. What would be the simplest option for running a query from the dialplan? I've done a lot of searching haven't found a clear answer to the basic questions, probably due to my inexperience with...

TRY THIS Problem setting CallerID dynamically when using Originate with "Local" Channel

Hm.. I'll have to double check the syntax. I might have it wrong (though curiously it does work the old way). But that part isn't where I'm stuck. Hard coding the callerID works fine. I'm trying to set it dynamically from the Originate command. But no matter what I've enter in the URL params...

TRY THIS Problem setting CallerID dynamically when using Originate with "Local" Channel

I'm using PIAF Green / FreePBX / AMI to run the "Originate" command to bridge together two external numbers (customer and remote employee). That part works great. I'd also like to set the CallerID. So if an employee temporarily forwarded calls to their mother-in-law's house, the caller ID would...
