    ALERT Fool Me THRICE: CloudAtCost

Actually, that's $1 per CPU - it would cost you $6 for the upgrade. My guess, is they just want to stop supporting multiple platforms, so they make the upgrade real cheap.

    ALERT Buh-bye CentOS.

accch, the fun of supporting a group of test equipment running on PDP-8As, 12 bits with 16K words of core memory (later ones had 32K of DRAM, but the core was faster). DEC PDP11-34s for the programming station with 5-10 users using RSX-11M real time OS, running from 10MB disks... Then Unix on a...

    ALERT Fool Me THRICE: CloudAtCost

Yeah, I still have a couple of boxen on there. They offered a one-time upgrade to v3 w/ no yearly cost, for a pretty cheap price. What amazes me is the 2 machines I set up are just running and running (never had an uptime of more than 2 weeks before...) DO NOT start with a plain Centos 7 build...

    TUTORIAL Knock 3 Times: knockd

First thing is, you aren't seeing the knock attempts. OK, so now, why? You did not mention what your platform is, in some cases you don't use eth0 as the network device, and you will need to update the config to point to your main network device. An ifconfig -a should make obvious which it is...

FOOD FOR THOUGHT Wazo 17.12 issues

Do not worry about anything it complains of in /proc. /proc is an access point for info that lives in the kernel. Those are not real files, they correspond to processes in the system, and some kernel structures that are handy to have (like /proc/partitions, which tell what partitions the kernel...

    RECOMMENDATIONS WinSCP

Use it quite a bit. It's also known to work on Linux (using wine) pretty well.

    DEAL CloudAtCost Promos

Hmmm. I've been looking around, and I must say, I don't see any recurring charges. I did have to agree to the 'changed terms and conditions', but the only thing it said about charges, it that they were whatever the main page said. There's nothing invoiced against my account, and they don't have...

FOOD FOR THOUGHT allow incoming calls to ring indefinitely if no extension is available

And just to make it really interesting, AT&T around here routes 999 to 911. As seen on a 'decomissioned' cell phone in the hands of a three year old.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT hangouts or facebook ?

I have a Grandstream video phone (20$ at the flea market, new old stock still in the box.) Video just worked after configuring it in asterisk - it talks to my iPhone w/ (either linphone or zoiper - I'm not at home to see which one works.) No real utility when there's facetime, or hangouts, or...

PIONEERS RasPi3: Incredible PBX for XiVO

Specifically, DAHDI has a "fake" clock generator built in (non-fake clocks were supposed to come from a PRI interface card, or maybe a modem card, but interface hardware was becoming less common as SIP became the norm.) Later Asterisk builds don't even have DAHDI, so confbridge became the way to go.

    QUESTION Help with extension: GXV3140

Good. It's pretty straightforward to get it connected. Too bad about all those apps, though...

    QUESTION Help with extension: GXV3140

What are you having trouble with? I have one of those on my desk - it installed like any other phone. You probably want to use the web page to configure it, the maint screen is pretty basic. But you really just need to set up the username, password and server same as any other and it just works.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT XiVO PIAF vs PIAF

Xivo uses Asterisk, like FreePBX. And that's about where the resemblance ends. FreePBX is basically a GUI to generate config files for Asterisk. If you're not actively making changes, you can shut the webserver off and it's OK. It's using the files for its configuration. Xivo is Asterisk...

PIONEERS RasPi3: Incredible PBX for XiVO

More particularly, it isn't a clock that tells time, rather a source of timing that tells the conference code when to look at all the incoming data from the various lines. Both are uses of the noun "clock".

    TIPS Cron Jobs

As a safety measure, cron uses an abbreviated path in its environment when it runs an entry. You always want to use a full path for the command in a cron entry, so as to not go through this mess. As an exercise, try setting a cron job with something like "env > /tmp/env.txt" to see what the...

    SUGGESTIONS Cloud, Pi or ??

Hmm. I've had an original Pi running in my house for... a while now. GUI is a bit slow, but it handles 3-5 extensions, 2 trunks and a Google voice trunk with no issues. My wife doesn't know it even exists - that's pretty close to perfect for me. I'm in Florida and power blinks are happening way...

    SOLVED Phones lose connections

Travelin' man to the rescue. You'll need to set up a Dynamic DNS entry for your home (google is your friend.) Make sure you're set up to update the dynamic address when your IP changes (whatever service you pick should tell you how, and some routers actually have a client built in.) Then add...

FOOD FOR THOUGHT IT expo 2016 - Ombutel

About same specs, but 2 cpus and 20G of disk. Among other things, some packages were depending on Glibc2.14, but the freshly updated Centos 7 had 2.16. There were others. How long ago did you run this?
