    Day-Night on Asstra 6757i phones

Day-Night Hey Everyone. Reposted from main help area. Probably should have been here. I have a new box running 1755 gold with Asterisk 1.4.21.2. With Asstra 2.3 scripts, firmware v2.6.0.1007, and mostly 6757i phones. Its running fine but with a glitch on the day-night...

Adding FXS Card to Established System?

Yes. Typically you have to install the drivers and configure them. Each manufacturer has a different process. So depending on the card you buy, it will vary. So maybe Google around and find comments on the card(s) your considering. I have had good experience with Sangoma and I like the...

What the heck am I not doing correctly?

For inbound calls. Create an extension on your box that you want to use for the ATT/POTS/line. Create an inbound route to the ATT/POTS line to the extension created above. On the Asstra, go to line 3 and configure it with the IP for the box, name, and password. Be sure it registers. Now...

    Day-Night

Hey Everyone. I have a new box running 1755 gold with Asterick 1.4.21.2. With Asstra 2.3 and the 2.6.0.1007. Its running fine but with a glitch on the day-night feature. If I turn the night mode on, say using extension 700, x700's light comes on. But not on any other phone. They stay off...

    LAN latency/jitter

you could have a port speed/duplex mismatch. Cisco's switches are terrible auto negotiating, even with their own stuff. So login the switch and see what the ports are running at. I think "show inter status" will show the ports and the connected speed of each one. Then look on the device and...

Recommend a quality, non-echoing FXS gateway for PIAF?

Audiocodes are not that well supported in the US, the documentation for Asterisk is poor, and it is difficult to get working. I have one and gave up. I personally put it in one of my "it sucks" category. The GS gateway is nice. We have a couple, use them, and they work fine. Just upgrade...

    XO Communications Outage - Vitelity

If this really hosed you, you should ask for a root cause analysis (RCA) or request for outage (RFO) document from them. Something like this would be that the mgmt or executive level and would have some type of document to explain the issue. They generally have a public one. If they do not...

    Migrating or Cloning PBX servers.

You could try cloning it and seeing if the clone copy comes up. you got a 50/50 chance depending on hardware. As long as CentOS finds the appropriate hardware, and your not doing any goofy software raid or other stuff, its worth a shot. See http://www.clonezilla.org/ Then boot the CD, save...

Is an Atom based Acer Netbook 100% = to the recommended Acer Aspire Revo for PIAF?

Let Google be your friend. Try http://elrepo.org/tiki/tiki-index.php and you should try the kmod-atl1c rpm first and then kmod-atl1e second if that does not work. Both are Atheros drivers. This way you can download from another PC, put on a usb stick, install, and hopefully it will work...

    Home PSTN Setup

Not sure, but it should work. Google voice basically sends it to any phone # you tell it. So if you tell it to send it to a voip did that can take multiple calls, it should work. I'll try it when I get home tonight and let you know.

    Home PSTN Setup

I do not think call waiting will work, with PIAF, or any other asterisk solution. The challenge is the phone company can only send you one call at a time. When you use call waiting, one call gets held at the CO. So your talking to one call, the other is help on the CO, and the only thing you...

Is an Atom based Acer Netbook 100% = to the recommended Acer Aspire Revo for PIAF?

Hey Daj. You are looking for an absolute here. Unless someone has one, and knows it works, Folks are not likely to answer. So yes, by asking for 100%, your not likely to get what your looking for. PIAF is totaly open source based and the folks here participate for many reasons. If you...

Is an Atom based Acer Netbook 100% = to the recommended Acer Aspire Revo for PIAF?

Unless someone has used one, and know it works, it's not likely someone will answer. So a lack of a response likely means no to your question.

    PIAF in rackspace cloud

Look at the appropriate .ks file on the piaf install cd. It should give you enough info to manually install or maybe do a net install of CentOS. I created a boot server at home and use it to serve up different install cd's. I was able to use the ksalt.ks file to automate the installation.

Right Sizing Hardware for Small Systems

I have had to special order when I wanted one. It could also mean that they are coming out with new models and winding down the old ones. But I like the form factor with a small 1U rack mountable box. Fits in a telco rack, cabinet, or wall mount rack. And packs the atom punch with a raid1...
