Just wanted to post a follow up to this. I ended up deleting this trunk and the chansip trunk I was working on. I recreated from scratch the chansip trunk and it works perfectly. I must have messed something up while troubleshooting this.

Well, I can't quote a law. I'm only repeating what my alarm company has told me many times over the years. It sounds like either they were wrong, or things have changed. In any case, I'd much prefer to get rid of our POTS (yes you were correct Samot).
