Heh.... I want to get one, but still have T28s that won't die! Yealink really have been some rock solid phones for me... of course I probably just jinxed myself.

Hey guys. I have a question as someone who has never done a large deployment of VoIP phones before. I'm planning to purchase a bunch of these for desk workers in a new building. However, there are some locations that really don't need something this advanced, like manufacturing areas and labs. Something cheap and simple with 2 lines would be better since budget is such a concern. I'm wondering what recommendations you might make to go alongside the T46G's?

Would there be any benefit to keeping my selection within the Yealink family? For instance I see the someone mentioned apps working on the T41p (what is the difference between the P and G model?). Would this reduce any work on my end? Or would going with a a Grandstream GXP1405 that is very cheap not create a bunch more work on my end?

From my research it just sounds like I'd have two configs for both phones regardless. And certain Yealink models might allow me to use certain phone applications that run on the T46G, but that's the only real advantage. I'm also really considering getting the FreePBX end point manager as well to simplify things (I've got a lot on my plate).

Thanks.

Just my personal opinion but I like to stick with the same brand for entire offices/buildings. That way down the road there isn't issue's with people who like brand A better then B and want to complain why can't they have brand B etc... If you want simple phones I would go with the Yealink T22P or T41P for something a little nicer.

I'd also highly suggest using the EPM to configure everything it makes it so much easier.

If I am not mistaken, the difference between the P and G models is either an extra ether port and or the port is giga.

I like the T21P over the T22P for the openvpn support and redundant provisioning servers. However, it seems that and the T19 aren't supported in the EPM tool yet. And it doesn't seem like any Yealink phone will be able to compete with the price of the cheap grandstream phones. If budget doesn't allow I might end up having to mix brands for those warehouse phones and other non-desk areas.

The T21P does not have a backlight so I would not recommend it as people always complain about that.

If you are using them in house I would not worry about the openVPN support.

Also make sure you call dealers for the Yealink pricing you might be able to get a better deal as Yealink has MAP pricing for authorized dealers so you won't find the best prices online and one of the reason's I don't sell online for the most part.

Thanks, I completely missed that when looking at them.

Thanks. I'm pricing at telephonydepot website right now and from what I understand they are authorized (so your warranty is good) and have to abide by MAP pricing.

Yealink does not do a good job of telling you who is although they have a great list on their website who is not. I am sure TD is as well yet they are not listed on Yealinks site as being authorized so they make it very hard to tell.

Yeah, they say right on the pages they are an authorized dealer.
In regards to MAP, make sure your create an account and login before browsing so you'll see their real prices, not the MAP prices. :)
I've been getting pretty much all my stuff from them so far, and have been quite satisfied (they are also based about 4 hrs from me). It's also worth keeping an eye on their Clearance section...

As a secondary note, if you are planning to do any manual importing of address books, the Yealinks I have (w52p, t26p, t46g) make it pretty easy to just import a csv into the phone via web interface. The Grandstreams I have (GXP2124, GXP2100, BT200) either don't have an import option at all (BT200...but that's a discontinued I think old model), or only have an XML import option (I really need to get an LDAP server setup....so I can just centrally manage it all for all of them...).

Just wanted to let everyone know I just noticed the pre-order pricing on the T48G is just south of $200 with availability later this month. With the Bluetooth adapter it has all the features of the Aastra 39i and I can it sell for $100 less per phone with the same margins. It's a win-win! I wonder if these screens work better than the Aastra screen on the 39i. Those have been finicky for me.

I like the T21P over the T22P for the openvpn support

Just wanted to mention that it appears openvpn was added to the T22P and other Yealink phones in a firmware update. The website does not state this though.

I have the T22P and grandstream gxp1405 here with me and have been using them a bit the last 2 days. The Yealink is IMO much better quality and easier to use. For the extra $25 I'm definitely recommending the T22P. Good call whoever told me to get that one. Other then the screen and additional keys that make the T22P easier to use, the biggest issue I had with the 1405 was the speakerphone. I read a review that said it was good but even though it is very sensitive and picks up a lot around it, it created a lot of white noise for me. The T22P was much clearer.

The only issue I'm having right now with the T22P is I can't get the MWI to work. The voicemail is working and the other indicators show (message light shows solid & voicemail icon on LCD) but not the MWI. I checked using the CLI and it appears the NOTIFY header is being sent. No idea what's wrong.

Edit: Figured it out. There are settings for the yealink for how to use the MWI. They call it a "Power LED" which is confusing. The options are in Features -> Power LED. If the option "Voice/Text Mail Power Light Flash" isn't set to Enabled it won't blink for voicemail.

So I finally got one of these T46G here today.

Quick question. It has a "hot desking" button you can set. I was able to set this and log in with another users credentials. Is this all that would be necessary? Or do I have to alter config files?

Thanks.

Out of curiosity, where did you find the T48G "just south of $200"? Best I found was ~$250.

If it worked, it should be fine. Can you place and receive calls successfully? If so, then yes it should work fine.
