I'm sorry if this is a simple question, and someone has answered it before, but I could not find it anywhere.

On my PIAF Purple system (PIAF version 1.7.5.6, Asterisk version 1.8.4.1, FreePBX version 2.8.1.4) the Voicemail & Recordings page looks like it needs a maint password to get into, in regular FreePBX the Voicemail and Recordings page is accessible directly, with no administrator password. Is there a way to have the VM and Recordings page come up without the maint password?

Thanks!

Usually the voicemail password is set when you enable voicemail per extensions. You log in using the extension number (ex. 4001) and use the voicemail password that you set when configuring the extension (ex. 1234). Note the voicemail password is NOT the same as the extension's secret which should be very secure.

No, what I am saying is that you need to enter the maint password (like logging on to the FreePBX administration page) before you can get to the normal login page with the extension, and VM password.

If I remember correctly, this was due to an "improvement" by FreePBX. They were calling a JS file from somewhere else that was maint-protected. The old threads are around here somewhere....

Hi Ross,

Is there any way to take away this password for the Voicemail & Recordings page only? I would hate to give each user a maint password to access the ARI interface.

Sometimes, it helps searching the site using the Google site: command. But, if security isn't an issue (i.e. having ARI open to the internet), follow Ward's advice:
If security isn't an issue, just...

rm /etc/pbx/httpdconf/ari.conf
service httpd restart

Ok so I did
"rm /etc/pbx/httpdconf/ari.conf
service httpd restart"

on my asterisk box and now my system is down. My phones aren't working and when I try to access my system via its IP address, it won't load.

Does anyone know why this happened? :( Thank you so much in advance!
