Vitelity did try reprovisioning the phone where you tap on the MyPhone app about 2 dozen times? Yes?? I went through that a couple times to get time working reliably. Still a bit of a pioneering project, but I guess I don't have to tell you that. :cowboy:

p.s. We're actually testing ours in the mountains (far away from home base) this week. It's pretty amazing... once it works.

Hi all I just received mine yesterday. Mine connects to the PBX via WiFi just fine and to sprint network!

I did not have to do this banging or tapping on the phone screen to set it up as Ward has explained so not sure if Vitelity has changed something or if the setup procedure has been changed.

1) I have to look for more information on the texting it works but it uses the number that came in it not what the PBX is using.

6/6/2014
Fixed it: Needed to go to the account portal vMobile Devices go to action and update Routing to Make independent then select the number DID that I have. Then after that go into it again and point it to PBX. I also needed to go the the Phone Numbers All and change the number to route to Main so the voice mail goes to the PBX and it works great!!

2) Its a bit strange I have FOP2 running but it shows the phone as a SIP ext. & also a Trunk the Trunk shows info when the Vmobile in in the call but the ext button never shows any change nor does ether one show qualify indications and yes I do have qualify set to on in the ext settings.

3) I would like to know if I could just assign it a 4 digit ext number on the pbx instead of the long phone number easier to dial internally? I am thinking that may be why the FOP2 set it up as a Trunk ? 10 digits. I could just make a 4 digit ring group with the 10 digit number in that I guess if need be.

6/6/2014
Fixed it: I made up a 4 digit ring group and pointed it to the long 10 phone number. Now just dial the 4 digit ring group and the vMobile phone rings!

So far I am impress with how great it sound in a phone call audio wise, Mine is in LTE mode here where I live. I still need to drive around and see what the coverage actually ends up being.

Will report back as I continue testing and learning!

Any one know how do I set up the voice mail? I have it enabled but..... how to set it up so the phone can get to it? If you long press "1" in goes to some 303 area code number not to asterisk mail box. I tried 0*97 but it just disconnects

I have Wards digit fix in place with leading "0"

I believe " * # " are not excepted by the carrier Sprint I could be wrong?

I wanted to wait a while to give Vitelity a chance to fix my issues...

It's now been 7 days, and still no working vmobile phone. I'm on my second one, btw. When operating in Independent mode, no pbx, I get one-way audio on cellular, and when I do WiFi calling, the call drops immediately when the calling party gets connected. Almost the same results when routed to my public PBX. Yes, I've re-initialized the phone more times than I can count. About zero response from Vitelity tech support -- I even emailed the VP of Marketing and had contact with Chris Brown, who has a Director title at Vitelity -- he said that their response was "unacceptable". That was Friday morning. It's Monday afternoon, and still no response. I have been a long term customer of these guys, but right now I'm not feeling the love... BTW, bought vmobile under the PIAF discount...

Hey W1ve question what DID are you using in the vMobile phone the one that came in it or one of your Vitelity Numbers in your account?

w1ve: You are using this on a public server, yes?? I had zero luck running it behind a NAT firewall so I moved it to RentPBX, and it's been smooth sailing with IPtables, of course.

Tested using the DID assigned to the vmobile phone as well as my RentPBX Purple PIAF on a public IP.

Essentially same results running independently (vitelity DID for phone) or via PBX.

Chris Brown is definitely the man you need to talk to. Keep after him. I get the feeling this was a bigger project than Vitelity first appreciated.

Absolutely. Just got off the phone with Chris. He was great and very knowledgeable. Guess what? He believes 2nd bad phone. He is going to provision himself, and test on my PBX!
Now THAT is customer service. He was very apologetic -- they are training three new people on vMobile now. My only criticism is the lack of trained support staff.
Can't wait to test Wifi-cell hand off. It's the reason I left Republic Wireless... they could never make it work right.

Plus, I like the vMobile pricing model. Imagine how many people
are paying 10-cents plus a minute because they don't use their cell phones enough to get the per-minute rate within reason?? I like usage-based pricing (unless you are SUPER heavy user)

May be I was just lucky but mine which I gave to the wife is working Great she loves it! OK I need to put some perspective on this she is coming from a old candy bar stupid phone so that may be part of the luv. I only had the issues in the previous posts but was able to work nearly all of them out either on my own or with Vitelity's help.

I am running behind a NAT and doing the no no ...open port using one of my vitelity DID's on the PBX

The only thing not working is voice mail notification on the vMobile phone its self....the PBX takes a voice mail when the vMobile does not answer BUT the vMobile Phone has no indication that a voice mail is waiting. wont light the light on the phone.

I guess it's just my luck. Did you buy a new phone or a reconditioned one?

Nice catch. The Sprint graphic sums up the new vMobile architecture...

Anyone know how the handset operates when the home PBX is unavailable? Does it then work like a conventional cell phone? With PBX unavailability, where do the voice mails go then? j/c

The vMobile device is an extension on your PBX. So it works (or doesn't work) just like any other extension. If the PBX is dead, the vMobile device will be dead as well.

Wow, I guess then if you have a lot of traveling employees (who might face emergencies when travelling) you better require them to take a real cell phone as well as their vMobile device. I would think your average user wouldn't know the difference between vMobile service and conventional cell service because the device is a cell phone. As this technology is deployed more broadly, surely there will be instances where the user will need to make an emergency call while the home PBX in un-reachable. And if that call doesn't go through and God forbid someone dies or is severely disabled having not received EMS treatment in a more timely manner, well then, I wouldn't want to be the employer facing that judge.

There has got to be some sort of failover Ward, don't you think?

Wonder how the recent acquisition of Vitelity by Onvoy will change or fast track some of these issues. The ability not to place a call on a Cell Phone cause your PBX is down is very dangerous.,

I haven't tested this with my Vitelity FMC phone, but I believe a 911 call (remember that three digit extensions go to Sprint) will actually go to the Sprint 911 call center. A classic bug that's really a feature!
