Upgrade PHP and Apache

Discussion in 'Add-On Install Instructions' started by darmock, Sep 9, 2011.

  1. darmock PIAF Developer

We have had some requests to upgrade php from 5.1 to 5.3.x so people can run certain packages that wont work with anything else. To that end we announce update100 which is now available for BETA TESTING.

    WARNING

This update should NOT be installed on a production machine! Update100 is for testing and evaluation only! There is no safe way to roll back these upgrades so only install it on a system that you can afford to reload.

    update100 does the following

    1. upgrades php to 5.3.8-1
    2. upgrades apr to 1.3.12-1
    3. upgrades httpd to 2.2.19-1
    4. Installs the piaf.repo file
    5. Installs the latest version of phpsysinfo (req the higher version of php)
    6. Installs and configures the latest version of phpMyAdmin (required the higher version of php)
    7. Disables php, apr, & httpd updates from the centos repo. These are handled by the piaf repo now.

YOU WILL NEED TO DO A REBOOT AFTER THIS PROGRAM INSTALLS.

    How do I install it.

    1. log into the cli as root
    2. update-programs
    3. update100
    4. You must agree to the licensing or else the program will not run
    5. The system will reboot after the install

Please report back in this thread any problems or observations you may have. Eventually this will be molded into the base install of PIAF.

The development team and our alpha testers have given this a workout however we would like some more eyes on this so we can ensure minimal bugs.

    Enjoy

    Tom

    (more updates coming)

I just did the update100 on this system, and tested with a single outbound call. No issues.

Thanks folks keep it coming. We worked very hard to ensure this update would not cause any problems but wanted to have a wider range of testers. if problems occur they should be in freepbx or some of the ancillary programs that are php based. I am also interested in how the new phpMyAdmin seems to be working for people. There are a few warnings about some of the advanced features not being configured but from my reading that should not be a problem.

New PHPMyAdmin works for me. I can add, delete, all the usual things work just fine.
    My GVSMS works fine.
    Web Reminders works fine.
I have gone through FreePBX -
Module Update, Install, Delete, Reload all works.
    Superfecta works.
Don't have EPM on this box.

thanks rossiv this is pretty much what the alpha testers found
