    As of May 22, 2013 @ 1240 Eastern *NEW*

(generally available 24 hours after the above date or use piafdl -d -p beta_1892_purple to get it sooner)

    CURRENT ISO VERSION

2.0.6.4.3 - 32 & 64 Bit NOTE it is recommended you DESTROY any older ISO's you have and use only the most current ISO. Future versions of the payloads will no longer work with earlier versions of the ISO's. This has been done to ensure reliability and keep the signal to noise ratio down.

    Centos 6 Video/keyboard problems

As with every new release of Centos there are any number of problems that can occur. Centos 6.X is NO exception.

    1. Some users are having problems installing PIAF on systems that contain certain video cards. On the CURRENT ISO 2.0.6.1.2 We have added some new additions that MAY help. After you put in the ISO and it boots the very first screen is where you would choose which KS file you want. We recommend ONLY KS and NOT KSRAID or KSLVM. If you have a system that locks at a certain point during the install please try typing

    ks-nomode

At this screen and then tap the ENTER key. This may solve your problem or not. You can also use kslvm-nomode or ksraid-nomode.

    2. Some users are having problems with using the left and right arrow keys and the system locking up. We don't know of any solution to this. This occurs on both PIAF disks and original Centos disks. Use only the up and down arrows. Also during the install the screen will go blank due to power saving mode. Only use the space bar to "wake up" the machine. We had a number of failed installs because we used the left or right arrow keys. In our lab we have found that some older models of keyboards do not get along well with Centos 6. This is a real puzzler but we have 5 different model/make keyboards that consistently will not work with Centos 6 but work fine with Centos 5.7. Yes this has been reported upstream.

Also there is a new -txt switch which will run the install in text mode only.

    Thus

    piafdl -txt

Will run it in text mode and you do not need to use your arrow keys!

This was put out due to less than 1% of installs using a Centos 6.x based ISO having keyboard problems. Generally if you have a problem with your particular hardware/keyboard combo you will be dumped to the login prompt. After you log in type piafdl -txt and you will be able to choose your color via a text based mechanism. Please don't clutter up the forums with my machine freezes when I use the keyboard during installs.... etc etc. Until someone donates a machine that is experiencing this error permanently to PIAF we wont be looking for a solution. We cant duplicate it at all.

    CURRENT PAYLOAD VERSIONS NEW INSTALLS

The list below is the default version of Asterisk that PBX in a Flash distributes. In other words when you do a NEW install from OUR ISO (Which is the only supported way) and choose one of the menu choices these are the versions you will get installed by DEFAULT. This applies to PBX in a Flash 2.0.6.X ONLY!

    PBX in a Flash Purple
    Asterisk 1.8.22.0
    Libpri 1.4.14
    Dahdi 2.6.2+2.6.2

    PBX in a Flash Red
    Asterisk 10.12.2
    Libpri 1.4.14
    Dahdi 2.6.2+2.6.2

    PBX in a Flash Brown
    Certified Asterisk 1.8.15-cert2
    Libpri 1.4.14
    Dahdi 2.6.2+2.6.2

    PBX in a Flash Green
    Asterisk 11.4.0
    Libpri 1.4.14
    Dahdi 2.6.2+2.6.2

    PBX in a Flash Yellow
    Certified Asterisk 11.2-cert1
    Libpri 1.4.14
    Dahdi 2.6.2+2.6.2

    UPDATE-SOURCE - EXISTING INSTALLS

You can update existing version of Asterisk in the same family by using the EXPERIMENTAL update-source program. You cannot upgrade between families! Thus you CANNOT upgrade between Asterisk 1.8.X to 10.X.

The file located in /etc/pbx/digiumsource.conf controls versioning and can be changed to upgrade or downgrade. In order to use this program you must specify the version you want to use WITHOUT the beta_ preface! Thus in order to install Asterisk 1.8.7.2 you would change

    PASTERISK="asterisk-1.8.7.2"

    NOTE this program is EXPERIMENTAL!

    What does 2.0.6.4.3 MEAN?

The version number refers to the INSTALLED ISO VERSION ONLY! It has nothing to do with the actual versions of the programs we have created.

    thus for the current ISO

    2.0.6.4.3 =

2.0= The Pbx in a Flash Version. The next version will be 2.1

6.4 = The version of Centos. Then next version of centos is 6.3

.3 = This is the release version of the ISO only. Sometimes the ISO's are updated when new rpm's or kernels are available.
