I can see one of 2 reasons.

1) he could be a complete dick
or
2) it could be in his employment contract that he can't work on a free module that competes with a commercial module.

2) would make a lot of sense, and one that I could understand.

The stated reason was...

3) "I like to spend my free time cycling and building a life" :scooter:

Simple fix for older modules available here... if you happened to know there was a correlation between the error message "invalid argument supplied for foreach()" and applying a generic Error Handling fix.*

* Simple fix was finally documented 6 weeks over a year ago. Well, not quite. The correlation between that documented fix and its impact on prior modules wasn't disclosed until 2 days ago... after more than a week of stonewalling including this comment from Tony Lewis, Senior V.P. at Sangoma: "The OSS End Point Manager is causing your error and not a module supported by FreePBX and is broken in FreePBX 13. You will need to remove that module." And they're alarmed when someone questions their motives.

I can understand the reason stated. I maintain networks all day. I don't want to do it at night. Especially for free.

That's what makes the world go 'round. We're all different. I still have folks running WAMPUM, a dBASE III clone that I wrote 30 years ago. If they get stumped, I try to help them out. And, yes, many voluntarily paid a whopping $20 for it. It's never too late to jump on the bandwagon. Free download here. Did I mention it still runs fine under Windows. :drool5:

I still can't find time to work on this. I'm hoping sometime in February to find a coder who gets it.

Andrew did a great job with the OSS solution and I assume reasonably used that knowledge to his monetary advantage at sangoma, good for him, cycle on dude. These are the maintenance problems as you add hardware and function,

each phone might be able to use any or all of t*f*t*p ftp http https
they might listen on booting to any or all of ports 66, 150 160 etc.
they might need XML or flat text files
you might often prefer ssl encryption . . .
The might use a hierarchy of general, mac based then locally provisioned files, each with it's own order of preference
They might need different ways to bootstrap into a vlan.
you woul need to to know which hardware supports which programming on which button and how.
etc. . . . .

so

you need to find the mac address of the device and assign a proper recipe as above and appropriately
then send all levels as appropriate for the hardware by whatever protocol is supported
you would need to generalize all th button functions
then . . .

If you found someone to do all that for $750 I suggest you found an incompetent ;-)

Time will tell. The FreePBX endpoint manager is great value, that FreePBX commercial modules only support Schmooze OS without extraordinary effort and even then only on some hardware and denied to many mainstream OS's , that will remain a problem if you don't buy into them ( I personally won't)

There is a work around though, do a schmooze thing on a VM pay the $75 ante , copy the results into your non-schmooze possible deployments they are only textfiles tied/rooted to mac-addresses

(I bet I get flack for that)

Most people / businesses only run one or a few brands of phones. The FreePBX EPM aims to provision every phone out there. Better for the sake of this discussion might be something that works off of templates with nice documentations so the end user can set up one or a few templates corresponding to the phones he deploys.

Could probably also consider killing off t*f*t*p mode, since most phones of the modern era will provision over HTTP/HTTPS.

FusionPBX has a nice provisioning system based on templates but like FreePBX, it's tied in to the rest of the system pretty tightly.

There is the rub, which brand and what provisioning does user unknown need? who will write those templates and manage them as they evolve? will that be you? Over which provisioning mechanism ? The concept is easy, the implementation a little more onerous. Kill off tftpd and lose a shitload of older phones, is that acceptable?

I'm willing to have a go at debugging the OSS EPM at night/on the weekend. Need funds up front to start. Gladly setup a crowd funding page to accept small donations from this community. I'm experienced, software engineer/developer. I've installed/maintained IncrediblePBX 13 for a couple of small biz. Own 2 Nortel 1535 SIP phones with video, plus a Cisco SPA8000 8 port FXS unit, to test with. Able to get Cisco 79xx 89xx 99xx SPA5xx. Luckily I have no life at the moment so probably 10-15 hours to devote next week. PM me if interested and we'll talk.
PS: From the looks of this, and the comments reposted here from the original dev, it's probably a couple of small bugs which are causing the OSS EPM to fail. Pinpoint them fix them and it should be good again.
