Try dialing and answering with just the normal speakerphone buttons. Once the call is connected on both ends, then press the video button on each phone. Works for me. ;)

Ward,

When this works for you, are you connecting via sip2sip or asterisk?

I have a similar problem: video from the outset works, audio first then video second fails to establish video.

You should post the firmware version of the phone you are using. Maybe it is resolved in later versions. I have yet to actually test the video on my 0.2.50 firmware phones.

Dialing... / SIP2SIP trunk.

A couple of things I've found.

Dial a number and press the Video button (camera). It will automatically request a video call.

The # key forces an immediate dial if you are entering digits manually (like other phones); it's the same as the green key.

Trunk:

I tried to set up SIP2SIP as a trunk. For outbound dialing, it works great. However, there are a couple of issues on inbound.
I've got call routing such that my SIP2SIP DID routes to the video phone. I have ulaw, h263 on the trunk.

- The first time I receive a call from outside, it works. The second time, I immediately get congestion. It never works again until I reset asterisk.

- Video does not work. I'm not sure if this is a NATing issue.
My situation is
VideoPhone->PrivateIP ->Router->Public PIAF
and
VideoPhone->PrivateIP ->Router->SIP2SIP

Thoughts?

The seller says it has universal 110/220V adapter. What is the DC voltage coming from that adapter? 12V DC or what? I'd like to know before I try to bid. I thought I might just as well ask here instead of contacting seller. Thanks.

Edit: Nevermind, found from PDF in case others might be interested and are lazy buggers like me :)
Power
• Universal AC power supply input:
100V~240V AC, 50~60Hz at 0.22A
delivering 5V DC at 3A
• Country-specific power cord with IEC-
620 connector
Note: Remote powering of the IP Phone
1535 via IEEE 802.3af Power over
Ethernet (PoE) is not supported.

Thanks but no point in it now, I didn't know the rules of bidding (didn't know I can only make 3 bids)
I placed 10x @29, 10x@30, 10x @31 which also was not accepted (all bids rejected immediately as soon as I sent it in) and now it says I have to wait 30 days to bid on this item again or "Buy it now" which means at $60...

Of course I wouldn't try to bid that low if I wasn't buying some 'decent' number of them as I thought (someone bid 31 for 3 and was accepted), also might have upped the last bid considerably (and maybe lowered number to 7 phones) if I knew about the limit of three bids, ah well, you pay for inexperience (I have never been bidding before) there I go

I only get black video received on each phone then. Im doing this thru piaf if that matters.

Hands-Free Intercom?

Dumb question, but an important one in our home....

For 10 years we've loved a feature of the good ole Panasonic KXTD system: hands-free auto-answer intercom. We use it ALL the time.

This phone looks fantastic but I know we'd really miss the intercom thing.

Would there be any way to enable such a thing using PiaF?

Thanks!

I called them on the phone, buying direct from their sales person... at quantities > 10, paying $31. they won't take lower than that, even at 50 or 100 units.

AFIK not possible with this phone... you can watch video and listen to audio on a remote phone, but no intercom-like functionality.

when I asked couple pages back on this thread I was told
mtennant : No intercom, unless you set it up with PBXiaF.
I take it since this phone has speakerphone built in, we should be able to make it work like intercom if it is set up on PIAF side as he said.

I suppose it is mainly the question of there being a way for PBX to send signal to the phone that would trigger hands free call, same as when you press hands free button on the phone to receive call.

Intercom is typical office feature but it has great family use if your house is bigger than your voice can carry and you have phones in all rooms. You can make call group # for all your house extensions and assign it to a quick dial button and you can place intercom call to every room to announce dinner is on the table (or your cook does it if you got one)... which reminds me of something LOL

I am not out of the play yet, I made a second ebay acct and will try to bid again or perhaps I will call in live as suggested.

The phone has to have the smarts to interpret some signal as meaning "take the phone off hook." Not sure it has that. At least no one has discovered it thus far. Anybody read the manual?

Isn't that the thing that you look at after hooking it up, installing it, configuring it, swearing at it and asking everybody on the planet on why it doesn't work right out of the box the way that you think it should? :confused5:

10 more just arrived at the office today.

The phone has a feature called "Video Supervision", where you can hear video and audio from another phone. The default password is "0000". I have no idea how you invoke it from another phone.

I'm still trying to trunk SIP2SIP with PIAF, so I can video into the PBX from a SIP URI. It works for 1 or two calls, then I immediately get congestion on further calls. No Video works.
Bummer.

BTW, Ward, calling 001NXXNXXXXXXX numbers from SIP2SIP works great! and free!

thanks for the tip, to call in I mean.

I said I wanted to buy 7 or 10 phones depending on price, sales lady asked how much I am looking to spend, I said I am looking at something up to $400 and ship to Canada, after looking it up she returned with $350 amount for 10 phones shipping included.

Glad I didn't have to haggle over price, turned up that $350US breaks as $30/phone + $60 shipping (total $375.50 Canadian).
BTW I asked for her ext. # and it is 241, however when you call in you don't get chance to do any extension dialing but perhaps you could ask to be transfered if you run into some less cooperative sales person.

Hope this helps others, I am happy puppy now and didn't even have to use the second ebay acct to bid second time over. Thanks again w1ve
