Brand new install and it appears that nothing is accessible to the outside world. Used the IncrediblePBX install and allowed TM3 followed by IncredibleFax. Added the FQDN via the ./add command.

Where would one look for this anomaly?

Perhaps you could use Webmin to check your network settings, specifically to ensure you have a route to the outside world.

ChicoCanada: We don't recommend managing IPtables with Webmin because it messes up the WhiteList setup already in place. Users can do the same thing with /root/add-ip and /root/add-fqdn. In this case, I don't think this is a firewall problem since the trunk would be registered and would require no firewall changes. Easy way to test it, Trimline2, is to momentarily turn off IPtables: service iptables stop. Don't forget to turn it back on. Looks to me like you don't have Internet connectivity at all. What does ifconfig show??

Thanks for replying.. BTW, the webmin access to the firewall is really cool. Haven't used that one before..

1. Yes I do have a route to the outside world. I just sent myself an email via my ISP.
2. I've added the 2 SIP hosts to my whitelist, yet they can't connect.

Is there a way to temporarily stop TM3 or....

Thanks.

Okay, turned off iptables and still can't connect to VoIPMS. - still get can't connect.

To verify connectivity within the LAN, I created a backup and FTP'd it to my machine. That worked fine.

This is a strange one.

Enabled IPTables then created a backup destined to an offsite FTP server - this went fine.

Ran weather 947 report fine via extension 701.

I'm wondering if this has to do with the IncredibleFax installation and the associated Webmin module Hylafax Server.... has anyone had issues with this?

Solved.

I rebooted the Router - Netgear R7000 - Ward, doesn't this sound familiar...

Don't you hate it when you beat your head against the wall, uninstall the last 3 things you did, mess up a couple more only to find out it was something simple to begin with and then you have to get things back.

use pfsense, untangle or something like that in the future.

Gotta say the R7000 has been extremely stable and an unbelievably powerful wireless access point... since I plugged it into a UPS. Previously I was rebooting it about once a week. Now it's been over 3 months.

I have no doubt it is but I think these boxes encourage too much blind trust and foster a lack of understanding about what is really happening in these devices. Every single incoming and outgoing call is going through this thing and we depend on it to manage the communications with diverse providers. Many people no nothing beyond ports and port forwarding. If consultants learn the intricacies of the routers function and couple that with Wireshark expertise they'd be able to troubleshoot these things. I think black box routers are just fine in many places but I think if you design and implement these systems you must have a through understanding of router configuration and function.:)

Well, it turned out not to be the router at all. The issue is with the Obi110 POTS interface. This worked just fine for a very long time, and now I get Error: username mismatch, have <40729412345>, digest has <1112345>, digest being my VoIP.ms account.

When in service, if I call one of my VoIP lines from the POTS line, it goes directly to the VoIP providers voicemail and sends me that error. If I disable the Obi trunk, everything works fine. I followed the instructions here - http://nerdvittles.com/?p=8563

I'll fiddle with this more tomorrow, but for right now, I'm pausing that everything is working extremely well on the new server.

Sometimes the OBI's configure in minutes sometimes its a different story. There are also conflicting configurations for accomplishing the same thing. People like us have bought a ton of these things, there should be a few built in configs just for setting it up as an Asterisk trunk.

Agree. My perplexing issue is that it worked on the old system just fine. When I did a fallback, the same issues were exhibited. This drove me crazy until midnight, and this morning.... I even did a restore thinking I may have changed something. Oh well, we've all been there. I can usually install this in 6 hours including the customizations. This one is not going to beat me... :) I shall overcome...
