Your tutorial is excellent! The official "Install PIAF on an existing SL/CO instance" program should hopefully fix the need for the instructions. We will be supporting both the ISO method with PIAF installed from that and the "roll your own" on an already installed version of CO/SL. However for the for the install on an existing instance we will only be supporting SL/CO/OSIF variants and only 6.5 and above. Any use of other linux variants will not be supported by the PIAF Dev team.

The ISO progresses as does the final release of the piaf3-installer program there are a few things left to button up this weekend.....

Thank you darmock. Glad to hear about the new flexible install options for PIAF3 and the development progress of ISO release.

OK it works in Hyper V in SL as well. Dahdi does compile properly in this version - so one less step!

Here's the major caveat:

After the PIAF install script runs, the system will not boot due to the vga=791 line (it kernel panics a couple minutes after loading the ip6tables). In Windows 2012 R2 the console has a bunch of vertical lines on it so it's quite hard to see what you're doing when you edit the grub boot options; not sure if the same problem occurs in Windows 2008 or no. However, it's still reasonably legible. I found I had to edit the kernel line a few times for it to save for some reason. You may need to change from backspace to del when removing the vga=791 line.

This was all done in a "backward compatible" VHDX file in Windows 2012 R2.

did the conversion on a default 2.0.6.4 vmware image today. worked fine. 3 things i did notice.

1) update -programs worked fine except can't find the fopfix29.tgz. might be related to #109 of update-fixes
2) update-fixes complains on the #170 and #173
3) there seems to be an issue on am portal restart
chown: changing ownership of `/var/www/html/index.html': Operation not permitted
chown: changing ownership of `/var/www/html/index.php': Operation not permitted

Otherwise, all is well so far...

Well we're having a barrel of laughs with this. Unfortunately my colleague neglected to back up the system before starting the migration. Apparently running it as a script failed on the second rpm and has created a right mess. He got to the end of script three before realising something was wrong.

I am curently only able to boot the old 2.6.32-358 kernel as the later kernel causes a soft lockup in asterisk during boot (just after loading bluetooth modules). So, I'm trying to back out of all of the changes that the third script could have made - I take it the first command of the third script is missing the path to run it in which would be /etc/yum.repos.d ?

I'm also puzzled why script three re-runs erasing centos-release, should that not be sl-release being removed in script three to leave us with only piaf3-release?

What scripts are you running exactly and in what order

1. Should be the pre-install script that prepares a generic install of SL/CO for PIAF
2. Should be the installer that actually does the asterisk install. We are still working on the CO7 version at the moment
3. If you are installing incredible that would be a ward question

It was the migration scripts from the beginning of this thread rather than a clean install. In the end I got our system back to a working state and suggested that we do a new build with the proper installer instead of trying to fix a broken migration. We're now having RAID issues with the host box so the whole migration project will be pushed back!

Clean install is always preferable! These scripts were built when we were rather pissed at the Centos Crew (Still are) We recommend a clean install using our paradigm of minimal SL/CO install, then run our preinstaller, then run the actual downloader installer which the preinstaller provides. This will give you a *MUCH* cleaner install
