Thanks blanchae
looks like I found the problem I had to change an entry in amportal.conf ZAP2DAHDICOMPAT=true
and I changed context to from-zaptel, now I can make calls in and out. :smile5:

Thanks, again

by the way when I sent Xorcom my information which I got using your xpp-dahdi-info they gave you full marks as they recognized your name and mentioned if we could ad chan_dahdi & dahdi-channels it would be complete.

as they recognized your name

I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing! I'll add those conf files to the script pronto

Just got an Astribank FXO-firware won't load

I'm trying to get an Astribank FXO running on a Foxconn http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856119043

Running a new install of Purple. The Firmware isn't loading.

I created the symbolic link, I did NOT download fxload as it was already present.

I double checked the pc's bios and everything related to USB is turned on.

root@pbx:/usr/share/dahdi $ xpp_fxloader load
'xpp_fxloader'[3909]: --------- FIRMWARE LOADING: (load) [1 devices]
'xpp_fxloader'[3928]: /usr/sbin/xpp_fxloader: line 108: fxload: command not found
'xpp_fxloader'[3929]: fxload failed with status 127

root@pbx:/usr/sbin $ dahdi_hardware -v
usb:001/002 xpp_usb- e4e4:1160 Astribank-modular no-firmware

Anyone have some thoughts on this?
Thank you,
Scott

I should of mentioned that it appears that fxload is installed but there must be some part of it missing as I had to download and re-install fxload to get it working.

What has been your experience been w/ the reliability of the USB interface itself?

I had very bad experiences with Sangoma's U100 (2x port FXO) which also utilizes a USB interface... just found it to be way too 'finicky' and unreliable in regards to the USB interface itself (loosing connection, need reboot on disconnect, nothing like plugging in a flash drive into a windows os). Needless to say, this was when the U100 came out way back when and nobody had anything nice to say about it (big departure from the reliability of their cards). Since then, I've become extremely hesitant to try anything w/ a USB interface (sticking w/ internal card or traditional IP gateway).

(NOT asking about the gateway, software, echo, etc... but rather the quality of the USB connection itself, and what happens should it be disconnected - and subsequently reconnected).

You probably weren't addressing me, but FWIW as I was running out of the office I looked at the screen and noticed a screen full of errors referring to USB errors. Not a low power USB error but something like "unstable USB" or something like that.

I hope that's not a sign of things to come

By the way this will be my first fxo setup. From searching around It looks like I have to do some editing to the config files in addition to the freepbx gui to get this going-correct?

The exact error message I get

Is

Notice-xpp_usb: (usb-0000:00:1d.7-2) [X1047049]: Sluggish USB Dropping next PCM Frame (Pending writes=1)

I wonder if it has to do with it being connected to a low power Foxconn http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856119043

I'm going to fiddle with the bios too. Maybe something putting it to sleep.
I'll also get in touch with Xorcom.

This is an old thread and I've been having problems with the Astribank losing sync over the USB for about 3 years. I'm a teacher and had it running perfectly fine all last Winter semester (16 weeks). I turned the equipment off and did some major infrastructure upgrades (new routers, switches, etc..) when I turned on the PBX server and the Astribank, I started dropping the sync on the USB and crashing DAHDi.

Long story short, after trying every trick in the book, contacting Xorcom, upgrading, tweaking DAHDI, etc.. I did a search on the specific USB error and found that USB printers seem to have a similar issue with Linux. The solution is to use a shorter USB cable. I was using a 2 metre (6 foot) USB cable and changed it to a 1 metre (3 foot). Problem solved. Rock stable for the last 2 days where before it was dropping out anywhere from 3 to 12 hours later.

USB 1.0 is rated at 12 Mbps and USB 2.0 is rated at 480 Mbps. Looks like there's a difference between the quality and noise immunity of the cables. Go figure.
