I did skype install with sound enabled in virtual box, not sure if that was the correct way or not. Am I supposed to disable sound, install, and then enable? I am just a little bit confused, someone pleeeeease help.

I was able to set up the trunk, and can make an outgoing call through my yates client but there is no sound at all. And when I call my skype number, it does not make it to my yates client, it rings for a while then terminates. I have never actually setup a freepbx system, but I am making progress. I set the destination for incoming route to the extension I setup but no luck

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone know where I can find log files?

Tehnation please post help requests in the help forum as a new topic, rather than in the resource section.

I added the local network. I did not adjust any ports, where would I adjust the ports, a command or in freepbx? Or is it related to my router? Do I need to forward port 5060 to my server or something else?? In the asterisk sip settings, the bind port in advanced is default 5060.

I can make and receive calls now, but still no sound.

I setup my router to fwd ports 5060-5070 to my virtual box ip, but still no luck. If anyone has any ideas please feel free to tell, I have much to learn and appreciate all the help and info on this site.

I have a mostly default piaf green 64bit on virtual box in linux 64 bit, running on windows 8, I followed this guide, setup trunk with 4 skypes, inbound/outbound, and a single extension. Other than settings in the guide, nothing has been changed.

username=freeswitch
type=peer
trustrpid=yes
sendrpid=yes
port=5070
insecure=port,invite
host=127.0.0.1
context=from-trunk

I used that for both the peer and user details in trunk settings

My incoming route destination is set to the single extension i made, and the DID for the incoming route is my skype login.

For outgoing route trunk sequence 0 is freeswitch, 1 is not selected and the route name is skype.

I'm not sure what I am missing. My incoming and outgoing calls, work and connect, but no voice.

Skype 4 enable sound
Skype 2 disable sound

But I don't want you to put too much resource in to Skype because there is the news floating around Skype third party software will not working after this year.

Our company uses skype regardless. Its just the newer versions does not support call transfers, but with freepbx it is possible. I figured this solution would last a little while because it actually uses the skype client. Skype is doing away with desktop api and developer kit api support, which is what I believe a lot of 3rd party software runs on. The skype uri which they want people to use will be able to start skype sessions, so if it does stop working, it may work again in future.

Does this solution utilize skype api's?

Also , I have done the install with sound, and I still can not get sound to work on incoming/outgoing calls, it connects, but no sound on either end. Any ideas??

did you open port UDP 10000-20000 on your router? try this command, lsmod | grep snd what do you see?

I am having some trouble getting the ports 10000-20000 to fwd to server. I have upnp enabled for our network, and some of those ports are already in use by other pcs, so i'm trying to figure out a solution, mainly i'm just disabling it, setting up the fwding and then reenabling it. Hopefully that will work.

Can someone clarify how to setup trunk user and peer? I see a detail box for both user and peer, but in this tutorial only one set of fields. Does it go in both boxes, just one, or certain fields in certain detail boxes? I'm missing something..... when I call out from yates client, I can send sound, but cant receive it, and when I receive a call no sound both ways.

username=freeswitch
type=peer
trustrpid=yes
sendrpid=yes
port=5070
insecure=port,invite
host=127.0.0.1
context=from-trunk

Can someone share their trunk settings?

I'm also using virtual box to figure all this out before I put on server, I'm not sure how this would effect port fwding. If my firewall on my vm host is on or does not have ports open then I would guess that it would not allow the ports on vm to work, or am I guessing wrong? Should I open 5060-5070 and 10000-20000 on my laptop as well?

i did not open any ports on my router except udp 10000-20000 5070 created automatically when i installed Skype on my pbx server. no need to open ports on computers. don't open 5060 unless your going to use traveling man.

So I cut out all the BS, windows 8, and just loaded a piaf green 64bit on my fresh server box, i did the install and everything exactly the same and everything worked perfectly. So rather than use vm, I used an actual server. Everything works now, I can hear in and out.

My only complaint is the delay, its a good 3 seconds, is there a way to tweak this?

Windows8+virtual box+this tutorial = nightmare

Thanks to everyone who gave me a helping hand!

I am running it currently on a amd phenom 9850 quad core, with 4gb ddr2 800. Maybe I need some more horsepower? I have another box, but I didnt think this delay would be so bad.

The delay only seems to happen when I dial out, when I call in, the delay is perfectly normal.

Any ideas on why when I make a call the delay is so much longer, than when I dial in?

I have skype connect to fall back on:
http://www.skype.com/en/features/skype-connect/
I'm not to worried. I actually dont mind playing with this for now, gives me a lot of experience points. Skype connect is 7 dollars a channel per month, free incoming calls, and 30 dollars a month for 5k min's.
And it works with existing skype manager accounts so you can just reallocate the numbers and accounts.
