Freepbx/ipbx is supposed to be able to reliably receive a fax, convert it to pdf, and email to you, isn't it?!

Sent a test fax to the fax-detecting DID and astonished by what came out.

The PDF comes out garbled...

Fax receive to pdf should be working without garbling the page up like that.

Setting are as follows....



Incoming Route settings for the DID:
Detect Faxes: Yes
Fax detection type: SIP
Fax detection time: 4
Fax destination: Fax recipient 701 ( 701 )

Extension 701 Fax settings:
Fax enabled: Yes (Check)
Fax email: __valid email address__
Attachment format: pdf


Anyone ever actually gotten this feature to work reliably as it should??
Anyone else ever experience this bug??
Suggestions to troubleshoot and fix this ??

You are not using IncredibleFax/AvantFax. Fax should be redirected to the custom destination Fax (Hylafax)

Ah, now it's able to receive the page! Thanks.

Except 2 problems...
1. The sender fax machine is trying to send a color page in color, but is forced by AvantFax, to fall back to black and white.
Isn't AvantFax able to receive in color?
Shouldn't color support be added to AvantFax/Hylafax?
Because color capable fax machines are everywhere - HP, Brother, every maker has them for $100-200 - and it'd be stupid to throw away that color information.

2. AvantFax is keeping the fax in its own list. An option is needed to auto transfer the fax by email, either blindly to a preset email address for all extensions, or per DID, and/or per Incoming Route, based on pattern matching the sender phone number caller ID, and/or station ID (text), to select an email address to send the fax PDF to.
Is auto forwarding faxes, either to IMAP mailbox and/or to sent as email (just as voicemail is forwardable via email and direct insert into IMAP inbox), is this not a feature of AvantFax/hylafax?

Trust me on this one - you're going to want an ordinary fax machine. This just isn't going to do what you want it to the way you want it to.

You need to configure an email account in local_config.php

AvantFax can route incoming faxes per DID, CID and Barcodes just read the docs.

Interesting - why do you say ordinary fax machine would be better than avantfax?

Question: which file is the "modem config file" ??

I have gone down the rabbit hole and just returned with a solution for color fax send and receive.
