Installing a second hard drive with raid 1
Ward, I hope this helps you out.
I just finished installing the second hard drive in my gpc2, and it was pretty straight foward. I bought a Seagate 80gb for consistancy, but its not necesarry. Just make sure you use a 80gb or larger drive. The two spots left to mount the HD are meant for 3.5" disk drives, so you will have to modify it abit to get HD to fit. One the left mounting screw, bend the tab down slightly to get the holes to line up then screw the screw in. The right mounting hole doesn't line up with any holes on the case, but I went ahead and put a screw in it anyway to help keep the drive in place. There are no mounting screws for the back sde because its held in with compression tabs. The motherboard does not have very good SATA ports on it, so when you plug the cable in it will feel slightly loose. Just make sure they are plugged in all the way. That should be it for the physical labor. Button the case up and power it up.
Once its on, hit <Delete> to enter the bios. Then do the following:
- Integrated Peripherals
- VIA OnChip IDE Device
- Sata Mode [RAID]
- Save and Exit
Once the Sata Raid screen pops up, hit <Tab>. Then do the following:
- Create Array
- Auto Setup For Data Security (You can do it manually too if you like)
- "Create New Raid Success!!!
- Select Boot Array
- Select ARRAY 0, <Enter>
- Press <Esc>
- Press <Esc>
- Type 'Y'
Pop in PIAF 1.2, and you're good to go. Can anyone confirm or add to these instructions?
